Overview

Martin’s Dreadnought Junior Series features a blend of the legendary Martin tone with solid-wood construction and lightning-fast playability. The DJR Dreadnought Junior Acoustic Guitar was designed to create an instrument for the player that is searching for a small-bodied guitar that is easy to play and loaded with all the sound and dynamic nuances of a full-sized acoustic instrument.

A recent addition to the Martin family of dreadnought Junior guitars, this DJR Dreadnought Junior Acoustic Guitar has all the bells and whistles of more expensive instruments. Constructed of all solid-woods, it produces a tone that will rival some of the more expensive instruments found on the market today.

For the top, Martin selected solid Sitka spruce as the basis of the tone generator. Sitka is a very expressive tonewood that produces the right amount of tone, volume and dynamics required to play an acoustic guitar. To complement the Sitka top, solid sapele is used to add depth and character to the sound. Unlike laminate or layered woods that are stiff and lack bottom end and resonance, the solid-wood DJR Dreadnought Junior has crystal-clear highs, a punchy bottom end and lots of sustain and tone.

Playability is a must for many of today’s musical styles, and Martin has got you covered. The DJR has a very comfortable neck profile. A 24 in. scale-length adds more power and tone to the sound, while reducing the drag on string tension. The slim neck profile and forest-friendly Solid FSC Certified Richlite fingerboard allows you to glide up and down the fingerboard with ease. You will be able to make a smooth transition from playing your electric guitar to this acoustic instrument.

This guitar has a great sound, fast action and is perfect for the singer songwriter, stage performer, travel musician, session player and aspiring guitar student.

Martin SP Lifespan Phosphor Bronze Medium Gauge (MSP7200) and gig bag included.

Comments about Martin DJR Dreadnought Junior Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar sounds rich and buttery. Has that Martin depth and fullness. My only complaint is the fat neck. A smaller nut width better suits this guitar. I don't consider this a travel guitar. It's hefty despite the shorter neck. Beautiful sound and looks. Simple and solid. Martin guitars are truly inspiring.

Comments about Martin DJR Dreadnought Junior Acoustic Guitar:

I purchased this guitar as a Christmas gift for my mother. She absolutely loves it, the strings are the perfect distance apart, they are not raised too high above the neck either. The sound is great and it is well made. I would make another purchase if ever needed.

Comments about Martin DJR Dreadnought Junior Acoustic Guitar:

I'm a novice adult learner with relatively small stature and hands (5'2") but play other instruments and appreciate good sound, so was looking for a good quality acoustic that sounded good enough that I'd keep playing. This guitar is perfect -- amazing sound, perfect size.

Wonderful guitar for play or practice!

      By EM

      from MIchigan

      Pros

      • Comfortable
      • Easy to play
      • Fast neck
      • Great for fingerpicking or flatpicking
      • Sounds great

      Cons

        Best Uses

        • Playing in venues
        • Practice

Comments about Martin DJR Dreadnought Junior Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this used from Guitar Center after reading lots of reviews on it. When it arrived I was more than impressed with it. It sounds just as good as my full size DRS-1 and its smaller size makes it comfortable to play. I purchased it because I did not want to transport my "nicer" DRS-1 to guitar practice and such because I felt as if I would not be bothered if I banged this one around a little bit but boy was I wrong! This is a beautiful guitar and I want to take as good care of it as my full size Martin, plus I wouldn't mind playing this in other venues either. Very nice guitar and would recommend to my friends.
