I bought this amp a few months ago and was very pleased with it until 2 weeks ago it just stopped working. Tried for a week to get in touch with Marshall to get service support but just ended up sitting on hold for extended periods of time. Finally found a local service center to take it for repair and discovered 2 or 3 of the tubes had gone out and there is only a 90 day warrant on the tubes. After 9 months of normal use I would not expect to have to replace tubes already.

Comments about Marshall DSL40C Limited Edition Vintage 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I've been a huge fan of Marshall stacks and half stacks for decades. Didn't want to carry that monsterous set up anymore so I looked into this based on its reviews. I honestly couldn't be happier! I did change out the speaker for a Celestion cream back as I prefer a mellower tone but that's my taste and it doesn't take anything away from the amp itself. Haven't messed around with the effects loop capabilities yet but I'm sure that will work fine. Guitar center rocked the price hands-down easily the best deal!

Comments about Marshall DSL40C Limited Edition Vintage 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

The Marshall DSL40C produces the sound I have listened to all of my life. Growing up on Jimi Hendrix, the Who, Allman Brothers Band, Eric Clapton, etc. the Marshall tone is unmistakable. This particular amp carries that traditional tube quality sound but includes an important feature for me - a drop switch to 20 watt that I can use when playing in my condo or flip it to full power for the rehearsal studio. When it is all said and done, playing is about sound quality. Sure, I can play my Gibson Les Paul Standard on another amp, but I will never be able to produce the sound quality without the proper amp. Of course, there are other quality tube amps on the market, not taking anything away from these others, but the one sound I remains clearly recognizable to me is the Marshall. Oh, and the vintage cover is cool.

Comments about Marshall DSL40C Limited Edition Vintage 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Great amp. Sadly I had to return mine for another one. The one I got looked amazing. Turned it on and noticed a popping and a horrible wind noise coming from the clean channel. I contacted Marshall and they had told me to have it replaced. And the effects loop wouldnt work if the Channel and Reverb pedal was on.. Maybe I got a lemon lets hope so because its an amazing amp. The amp really sings. A lot of reviews that I have read about it was saying it was muddy when doing runs etc: However this is not true, if you dont play clear and hit every note it does get muddy. This amp will show your flaws.

Clean channel was amazing sounds very clear and crisp.
Crunch/clean channel was great very clear and chunky!!
Lead 1 channel gain at just 3-4 is enough gain for anyone.
Lead 2 channel gain at 4-6 is perfect for 80's rock and metal.

Reverb VERY thin and VERY weak! Defiantly not this amps strong point.

Very good amp for someone wanting the power that you can use inside and outside your home.

If it wasnt for my clean channel popping and hissing etc Id still have the amp.

Comments about Marshall DSL40C Limited Edition Vintage 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This is a very good sounding combo amp. It has a solid bass tone to it, and the new gain features cover what many would do as a "mod" to the Marshall sound in most "Plexi" amps. Not totally broken in as far as the speaker is concerned so jury is still out on the matching of the Seventy 80 driver. The reverb is also a bit anemic IMHO but again still learning the amps personality for only a week. overall, if you want the classic Marshall tones with some modern features and tonal additions without buying a Plexi and heading out to your favorite amplifier tech for mods look no further.
I plan to do some experimentation with Creamback G12m and Vintage 30 swaps to see if the tones I want to lose are due to the Seventy 80 speaker. BUT, as a grab and go powerful ig ready all in one Marshall tone box......this is a gem indeed!

I bought this Marshall DSL40C amplifier for the purpose of reamping in my home studio. I prefer to use real amplifiers instead of plugins because I believe they sound better. This little amp delivers that oldschool vintage Marshall tone. I'm glad I bought it, and would recommend it to anyone using it for this purpose. I don't plan to use it as a gigging amp, so I cannot say how durable it would be in that capacity. However, it does seem well made, so I don't see why there would be any issues using it for that purpose. It does get quite loud when pushed.

Bought one in 1984...and lost it to a pawn shop in 89. Always wanted another one. This is everything I'd hoped for. Nothing like a Marshall tuber....

Did a lot of research before I bought this amp. A lot of people switch out the Celestion 70/80 speaker but I'm going to give it a chance to break in as it sounds pretty darn good right now! I'm guessing Marshall knows a little bit more about speaker performance that I do.

I really love the clean channel has a very useful crunch boost and and the distortion channel has two gain selections. I no longer use a distortion pedal. There is an attenuator that allows you to select 1/2 power or full power great for studio, practice and performance. This ads to the amp's versatility. Because I am more a blues player and Fender Amp aficionado, I use both a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe mixed with the Marshall via and AB box. I am more inclined to use the Marshall tone by its self now as a dominant choice. Probably because the great tone is new to my arsenal... The tone of this amp rivals more the classic "Jimi" tone and sounds better to me than the modern Marshall tube stacks. I recommend everyone try one out before you purchase your next amp. Or if you are looking to add a classic Marshall tone to your arsenal. Best Wishes to all of you, to Guitar Center and Marshall for making my music world even more special.
