I'm play both an electric bass and a fretted acoustic bass. I play folk-y rock, country and blues mostly, and needed an amp that could do an admirable job of amplifying either bass. Before I saw this amp, I did not know who Richard Bona is, and don't really care about that. I'm no kind of jazz or fusion player, but THIS RIG WORKS FOR ME. I demo'd out some other amps, but this Markbass fits the bill for almost everything I want to do, except Ampeg growl. Guess I'll need a stomp box to simulate that. The freq's for the four eq knobs are in just the right places and the cut/boost is generous. I can dial in a great tone, or totally foul one up. The VLE vintage amp simulator (essentially a treble roll-off) is a helpful one-knob vibe changer, as is the VPE (mid-freq scoop). Both these knobs are clever and make it quick and easy to dial in a radically different tone as needed. Initially I thought they were just gimmicks, but I now use 'em all the time. This is quite a versatile amp, and so far, I really, really like it. Unlike any other. Here's hoping for trouble-free service!

This is an awesome lightweight portable amp. It is deceptively powerful as well. Can easily keep up with drums and half stack guitar amps in terms of volume.
