Bob Bradshaw of Custom Audio Electronics designed the MXR MC-404 CAE Dual Inductor Wah Pedal with the Cry Baby design team to create a highly versatile wah-wah with top-grade components. The MC404 CAE Wah features dual Fasel inductors with 2 distinct voices (high-end emphasis or low-to-mid resonance), and a built-in MXR MC-401 Boost/LineDriver that adds even more flexibility.
Choose between inductors and turn the boost on or off with the side-mounted kickswitches. Bright LEDs on each side of the wah indicate operation status. The MC404 CAE Wah boasts true hardwire bypass, a long-life CTS potentiometer, and internal pots for the Q control-which varies the intensity of the wah effect-and gain adjustments. You get the high performance and quality that you expect from Dunlop, the world leader in wah-wah technology.
Bob Bradshaw has been one of the world's foremost designers of custom guitar pedal boards and effects systems for many of rock's most influential guitarists for 3 decades. And for just as long, MXR and Cry Baby have been synonymous with the effects pedal innovations that have shaped the tone of modern electric guitar playing. So it was only natural for them all to join forces to create a dynamic line of pedals offering the ultimate in tone, functionality and road-worthy dependability. Since 1980, CAE's groundbreaking pedal designs were made in limited quantities only for a select clientele of world-class guitarists. But now these very same devices and circuits are available to all.

Just recieved my wah today and let me tell you this thing sounds awesome. I play an modded Ibanez Prestige through a Mesa Roadster 212. Tried out Clydes,Joe Satch's wah,Q535,and the Wahzoo which I must say is also very awesome. Both are true bypass and true to your tone. I chose the CAE because of the extra features. The boost makes my channel 2 a new found joy to play on as my leads on this channel now sound very soulful and sustainy. It's like I have 2 channels on my channel two. Very nice wakka wakka. Noticeable dual Fasels. Two internal Q's you can easily adjust and dial up boost. This pedal has it all. If I lost this pedal I would buy another one that hour. So,from clean playing with my volume knob rolled backed all the way to the hardest crunching gain I can muster up this thing is the bomb.

I know what you're thinking: everyone else is giving it 5 stars and this guy is only giving it 1 star. Obviously, works for the competition or has issues with Dunlop. Well, I can assure I don't on both accounts. I love Dunlop pedals, especially the MXR models. The reason I'm giving it 1 star is that I couldn't get one that worked. The first one lit up and then died, didn't work for even a second. When I returned it the salesman asked if I wanted a refund, I said, "No, even the best companies are capable of a lemon. I'll get another one because Dunlop is a very good company so I got their one lemon." When I got the second one it worked-ONE TIME!!! The second time I went to use it it too was dead. I will say this it did sound great-for ten minutes! This experience has really soured my opinion of Dunlop pedals; I just can't get myself to trust them again, so I will be returning this one for a refund. I emailed Dunlop with a complaint; I will update this with their response-if I get one.

Comments about MXR MC404 CAE Dual Inductor Wah Guitar Effects Pedal:
I have played regular Cry Babies, Morleys, and VOXs for years, and I have never, ever heard a Wah pedal like this one before. It blows them all away. I love the setttings on this one. From sweep to full out WAH in your face. Its got it all. I know the quality of MXR pedals, and also the quality of Custom Audio Amps, which I play now. This is just icing on the cake. How sweet it is.

The be-all, end-all of wah pedals
By Paul
from Atlanta, GA
Comments about MXR MC404 CAE Dual Inductor Wah Guitar Effects Pedal:
If you're looking for the pedal that does, well, pretty much everything, this is it. Not only does it have both fasels that are easily switchable, but it also includes the MC401 boost circuit, so you can bump up your leads with a click. It's quiet, doesn't color your sound when bypassed and can be adjusted to suit what you're looking for (it also has adjustable Q and boost level). Hard to go wrong when you combine the original (Crybaby) with a genius (Bradshaw).

You try to take this from me, and I'll find you..
By Jack S.

Comments about MXR MC404 CAE Dual Inductor Wah Guitar Effects Pedal:
I love this wah! I've had mine for about 3 months now and I can honestly say that I am very happy with this wah. The red fasel has the deep sound of a standard crybaby, and the yellow fasel has a much more trebly sound, IMO. They aren't completely different, but the two have distinct differences. Also, there are three internal trim pots, so you can really dial in this bad boy to your liking. This is the only pedal that has kept a solid spot on my board. If someone stole it from me, I would track them down, take my wah back, and proceed to beat them over the head with it until they lost consciousness. Then I'd plug this sukka in, and rock out...that's how tough it is. Very solid! =)

Sell your wah and get a hold of real tone!!!
By Cody Testroet

Comments about MXR MC404 CAE Dual Inductor Wah Guitar Effects Pedal:
Pulled it out of the box today and was absolutely blown away! The dual wah sounds are sweet, not vastly different, but different enough that it matters. And the boost, oh the boost is incredible. It might actually replace my TS-9!! Stop reading this and buy this wah; it's durable, it's sexy, and it sounds incredible!

Very Impressed
By Anthony Clark

Comments about MXR MC404 CAE Dual Inductor Wah Guitar Effects Pedal:
All I can say is BUY THIS WAH PEDAL......you won't be sorry. Fantastic sounds, and quality. This thing has 2 inductors and the tonal sounds you can get from this thing are just killer. Just to top it all off, they even added a boost circuit and pedal feel adjustment. It doesn't get any better than this. I looked at several Wah pedals and I am very glad I got this one.

Comments about MXR MC404 CAE Dual Inductor Wah Guitar Effects Pedal:
I really like this pedal, when I first plugged it in I noticed right away the exceptional tone quality of this pedal compared to the classic wah I had been using. The quality components in this pedal is the main reason I spent the extra money on this pedal hoping for a nicer tone and I wasn't disappointed. Both of the external wah settings are very useful and give distinctive sounds, the boost is a nice feature as well.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about MXR MC404 CAE Dual Inductor Wah Guitar Effects Pedal:
I wanted the sound of a classic sound of a cry baby, but the ability to switch in an instant to a throaty, Michael Schenker type sound- without having to use two separate wah pedals. This is it. Plus, there is a clean boost inside as well. You can also open it up and tweak both sounds to exact specifications. You get what you pay for, and this is worth the price.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Best Wah I've ever owned so far

Comments about MXR MC404 CAE Dual Inductor Wah Guitar Effects Pedal:
I'm not out by this wah. The tone of these two Fasel inductors are out of this world. The yellow I use quite a bit because it has that 70s tone. The red works great with distortion, boost or both. The boost is so awesome in the future I will get a seperate MXR MC402 Boost/OD. I got this originally because my first Dunlop Crybaby GCB-95 was getting scratchy on the pot making electrical noise. After being so impressed by my MXR CAE MC404, I got a new pot and a yellow inductor for my old Crybaby and now I have great wah. With the new yellow inductor in the Crybaby, it improved the tone over the old N30 inductor. It made it a better pedal. The MC404 still sounds better and has great options built in. I wish the boost could be used by itself with the wah turned off. That is the only thing I would change on it.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
