Meinl HCS 12" Splash

this cymbal is absolutely amazing i originally bought this splash as a practice cymbal for my kit back home but dont let the price fool you. this splash has a magnificent sound and is amazing for accents whatever type of music u are playing. Been playing them for about 5 months now and no cracks so far. this is definetly one of the best splashes on the market for this price. i say buy it u wont be dissapointed!

It's okay for your practice kit...

Its okay, but it needs some work. I bought the splash in February of 2015, and it cracked in June of 2017 and used it about another month before it started to really affect the sound, and went out and bought my S Zildjian splash. For the time, it wasn't terrible, but I wouldn't recommend using it outside the practice room. The whole thing sounds very tinny, and the sound is not at all balanced. It seems to have 2 pitches to it, and they don't harmonize well. I guess I can excuse it for the price, because it isn't that much, but I wouldn't buy it again. If you own a few drum sets, and one of them stays in your basement all the time and only gets used for rehearsals, it wouldn't be a bad addition (I guess) but I'd recommend to invest a little more and buy an Zbt Zildjian. It just doesn't really sound like a cymbal, let alone a splash. Otherwise, if you're on a tight budget, then it wouldn't be terrible to add to your kit, but take it with a grain of salt.

    Mount it on a conga z-mount and it does an excellent job very crisp splash sound. I would definetely recommend this perfect size too!

    I have both the 10" and 12" HCS Splashes, and while neither is going to win any awards for projection, sustain, or sound quality, they are durable, cheap, and sound better than anything else I've encountered at this price point. These are a great way to add on to a beginner's set cheaply, or potentially even for low volume live settings.

    I use this cymbal on my drum set at church. It's quick responsive sound is nice as a snare replace when music breaks and overall good accompaniment to any complete drum set. I have it setup in a stack, upside down on top of 14" crash.

    I have a few HCS series cymbals, and I personally enjoy using them. Are they the best sounding cymbals? Definitely not, but they're extremely solid, especially for the price. This 10 inch splash can fit in many different situations, and it's pretty durable. I mainly use it as an accent splash on my kit, or when I want to hit a splash that is bright but not too loud. Granted the HCS series doesn't have great attack, especially the normal crash cymbals, but the splash's are good enough for my taste. The best thing about them is that if you break one, they're super cheap. Definitely would recommend to beginners and to those who want another splash cymbal that is really solid and bright, but not overbearing. Again it's far from being the best sounding splash out there, but it's good enough for me!
