Description
Dark and dirty. These are the words that describe the Byzance Extra-Dry hi hat cymbal. The surface is completely unlathed and untreated (crashes are lathed on the bottom). Just raw hand-hammered bronze--for a raw earthy sound. There is no wash. The extremely short sustain and stick definition come from the deep hammer marks layered with a more traditional hammering. Smoky sound, buttery feel and a 2-year warranty. Use for studio, fusion, Latin, R&B, country, rock, jazz and pop.

Got a pair of 16" hats, excellent stick definition, open they also amazing, the most musical hihats I've ever played, expensive and worth every penny.

Love these Hats! The feel is the best part for me, really buttery. Sounds best with Soul/Hip Hop but are very versatile. Thick bottom hat and thinner top hat makes it very washy.
Ok.

I'm impressed with the sound, control, and excellent articulation of these hats, particularly when they are played with brushes and/or multi rods. Though they may not be suitable for every genre or situation, they do have a distinctive and beautiful sound.
Crisp and Dirty

I play death metal and other heavy styles so at first I couldn't decide if I liked the stick definition or not. But after a day of playing (and a live show proving their capability to project): I knew they were the right ones. Crisp and unique, angry trashy with a little rust added. It's got a hi hat attack but the sustain for each is a washy nasty explosion like an fx pairing almost. I can't stress how well these sound. Get them if you like a great universal hat great for every music type. Could even be a great auxiliary hat for blasting and double hat footwork.
