M-Audio || Uber Mic - Multi Capsule Professional USB Mic with Headphone Output

Description
With the Cardioid directional pattern, you’ll record excellent single sound sources while eliminating unwanted room reflections and background noise. The Omnidirectional pattern, with its sensitivity at all angles, captures 360-degree sound making it a perfect mic for adding some ambiance to your recordings or capturing a group of sound sources like a choir. The Figure 8 pattern is ideal for capturing sound sources simultaneously from two sides of the mic. And finally, the Stereo pattern picks up audio from the left and right, producing a true stereo image.

Whatever your recording requirements, Uber Mic guarantees premium studio-grade capture every time. Fusing pristine A/D converters that provide 16-bit resolution digital audio, your recordings will exhibit an exceptional dynamic range that captures every nuance and subtlety of your performance. Used this for class zooms all through Covid and also for online meetings, music lessons, etc. Great sound, adjustable patterns, mute, line out, level meter, gain, etc. all built in! Decent recording mic for voice and instruments as well - similar to most dynamic mics. Built like a tank as well.
Great find!

Regarding M-Audio Uber USB Mic: My guitar is solely acoustic - no pickup. I have no experience using mics. My intended use for a mic is to record voice and guitar together. I have read advice about placing the mic 6" to 8" away, but I am concerned about the breadth of the cardioid pattern, and whether I would get good recording performance with the mic placed further away so that the cardioid pattern would pick up both voice and guitar well. In other words, how "tight" is that pattern, and how much does the sensitivity drop off with distance?
It deals with omni and stereo so the pattern is not that tight. It's not a hyper cardioid. The will be fine for your purposes but you'll need to experiment a bit. That 6" to 8" isn't written in stone. The math of sensitivity says the signal level will drop by 50% as you double your distance.submitted6 years ago
