The Line 6 Bass PODTX is one of the coolest things I've used since I've been playing Bass. One of the best features on the Bass PODTX is that you can pick an amp model that has the sound you?re looking for. The one I?ve chosen is the Frankenstein model that has a heavy distorted sound that doesn't need any effects. If that?s not what you?re looking for then that?s ok because the Bass PODTX has some thing for you. With over 20 different amp models and more than 60 effects (not limited to the preset) there is a sound in there for you. You can customize and save your settings the way you want to, like a specific amp model and distortion that you like. One of the best things is that you can hook it strait to your computer after you down load the software and record your sound. There are a few down sides in the Bass PODTX. I pick up some interference when it?s plugged into my computer. The bass PODTX is made for recording (and its great for that) but if you want to use it live then you need the floor board which cost almost the same price. If you?re a seasoned player or just getting started then you may want to take a look at this. The bass PODTX is a lot better than trying to carry around a bunch of pedals and cords. Over all (like I said) this is the best thing I've used since I?ve been playing. With all the options it has to offer you can?t go wrong.
I bought this to give me some more tone/effects options when recording the bass direct. It was fun but ultimately I decided it wasn?t for me and I sold it. If you are playing live I think this would be a great tool to have, but if you are recording I don?t think the effects are not really up to par. To me it sounds a little harsh and it probably has to do with the fact that 2 conversions have to be made and that cheap converters are used for this. I definitely had some fun playing with it but as much as possible I try to keep only pro gear around and I didn?t feel that the Bass POD XT was truly pro.
