Overview

The Lanikai CKCGC Concert Ukulele delivers sweet sound thanks to its rare wood and quality construction. The classic uke design and woodwork is improved with attention to detail that has made Lanikai a preferred name in ukuleles.

The concert size ukulele is just a bit bigger than a soprano uke, and smaller than a tenor. This size is particularly helpful for performers with larger fingers, and the slightly larger body delivers a louder and deeper tone.

The Lanikai CKCGC ukulele's curly koa wood top, back, and sides generate well-balanced tone. Its construction is solid, and its looks are breathtaking. Used in making ukuleles for over a century, rare Hawaiian koa wood is especially prized for its distinctive curly grain.

Grown mostly on the big island of Oahu, the gorgeous red-hued wood makes Lanikai's Curly Koa Series ukuleles look as beautiful as they sound. The rosewood bridge and fretboard add clarity to the notes, and the die-cast tuners keep you in tune from song to song. With gold hardware and a soft satin finish, the Lanikai CKCGC Concert Ukulele will surely turn some heads. You won't believe what kind of beautiful sounds this dynamic and versatile little island instrument is capable of singing.

Hey guys, so I'd like to start off by saying I've been playing guitar for about a year now, I wanted a ukulele to kinda take with me pretty much everywhere because my guitar is too big. So I was looking around and I was originally gonna go with a Mitchell concert uke, but for my 18th birthday I asked my parents for a ukulele thinking they were just gonna give me the money to buy one and I could pick it out. But they brought me this uke. At first I was a little apprehensive, not sure what to think, but when I picked it up it felt really nice, and after learning how to tune it and looking up a couple chords I fell in love. It's a beautiful instrument. For the price it's probably the best you could find in a local guitar center or music store. I went to a smaller owned shop in town thinking maybe I could find some more options at a better price but all their that were under $200 were terrible instruments. It's heavy in the neck and light in the body so you can balance it right in the middle on your finger. Which has nothing to do with playability, I just thought it was cool. I've been playing for like 2 weeks and it came so fast. I learned the basics in about an hour an a half. If you're a beginner considering this uke, I'd HIGHLY recommend it. it has a lager fret board than the smaller ukes so your big guitar fingers won't be going through SUCH a culture shock. If you buy it and it's not staying in tune for more than a couple hours, just keep retuning it and in about a week the strings will break in and it'll stay in tune much longer. It has nothing to do with the instrument itself. Over all I'd give it 5 stars. No complaints whatsoever.

Ukulele has good tone. I'm new to ukelele but have played guitar, for many years. The only things I was unpleased with was the wood binding on the body is starting to come loose. (I will fix the issue myself, but if I had bought in store and not online I would have never paid full price due to this issue) Frets could have been a little smoother for a ukulele in this price range too, but overall I love the instrument and have really enjoyed learning to play.

Fantastic

By Sam

Comments about Lanikai CKCGC Concert Ukulele:

I started playing ukulele about 4 months ago on a cheap little soprano Kohala. I got really into it so I wanted to invest in a good one being that I play every chance I get. After doing a lot of research I initially purchased the Cordoba 20CM after trying it in the store. After waiting a month of it being on backorder I went into my local Guitar Center to find out what the deal was. I was about to take the display Cordoba but then I laid eyes on the Lanikai CKCGC and was immediately interested. After playing both one after the other I fell in love with the Lanikai. Not only is it a beautiful instrument, but it sounds better than I could have ever asked for. Especially for such a reasonable price. And the thing holds a tune like a champ. I totally recommend this instrument for people who want to take a step up from their first uke to the next level.

Amazing

By Higgins

from Greensboro, NC

Comments about Lanikai CKCGC Concert Ukulele:

I have been playing guitar for about 5 years now and wanted a bit of a change. I had been thinking about a ukulele for a few months but having never played one, kept deciding against getting one. When I got the latest GC flyer in the mail, I saw a coupon for new ukuleles (Seriously, how often do you see a coupon for a uke?) So I took it as a sign and went to my local GC and got one. Pros: Stays in tune beautifully. I was expecting to have to retune about every five minutes or so, but that's not the case. I can play for an hour or so and only become slightly flat. exceeds my expectation for a nylon stringed instrument. Well made of beautiful wood and has amazing sound AND projection. I was able to jam with my buddy who was playing a steel string Ibanez acoustic guitar and had no problem with volume. Very easy transition from guitar.....chord wise. Have not delved into scales yet. One step at a time. Not overly expensive. Cons: Made in Indonesia. I just would like to see more American made instruments. Seems like everything is made overseas now-a-days. As I said before, I'm very happy with this purchase and I foresee myself playing a lot more. If it gets lost, stolen, broken, whatever, I will definitely be getting a replacement. Might even spend a bit more and get an acoustic/electric. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in a good entry level ukulele

Best uke for the money, IMHO

By Paul Montgomery

from Concord, CA

Comments about Lanikai CKCGC Concert Ukulele:

I don't think you can find a better uke in this price range. It sounds great and feels nice in your hands. It's got a solid koa top, "Schaller-like" sealed tuners, Aquila strings and tasty decorative appointments. The notes really pop off of that thing, strong and bright. I've been playing mine pretty-much non-stop for several days now. My face hurts from smiling so much! Bring an extra $10 and get a Snark tuner for it. It takes a little while for the strings to settle-in. On mine, the intonation is just a tiny bit flat up above the 7th fret or so, but it's not too bad. For the price, really - it's such a bargain I hate to even mention it.

I bought the CKCGC Concert Ukulele as a gift for one of my friends that had been expressing an interest in learning to play the Uke a few weeks ago. She was obviously a beginner when it comes to Ukes, but is fairly knowledgeable about guitars and such. She was thrilled with this instrument. Not only is it a beautiful instrument, but it has a great sound as well.

Comments about Lanikai CKCGC Concert Ukulele:

I've been searching for a concert ukulele for awhile after having played a baritone and tenor ukulele. I came across the Lanikai at the store and feel in love with it right away. The tone, the ease of strumming and picking just seemed to pop from the Lanikai. The weight and feel of the concert in my arms and hand felt like it was an extension of me.
When I came across a used concert Lanikai I purchased it right away. At first, I was a little concerned about the "used" label. But Guitar Center has a great return policy and after getting prompt answers to my questions about the uke from the store it was located at I felt confident in my purchase ,and I made a nice savings.
Overrall, the store gives great support, the uke is awesome and makes me smile, and the packaging made me confident that they took the time to make sure my purchase arrived safely.
I've wanted Koa for awhile, the sound from it is fantastic.

Comments about Lanikai CKCGC Concert Ukulele:

I really really wanted a ukulele for the longest time. I already knew how to play, but I never had one of my own. I went to a store around 2 days ago and it was the best ukulele I could pick. It was sweet-sounding, the wood finish was superb, and it was just pure fun to play it. The only downside I can think of is that it doesn't come with a case, but we could buy it separately. It's great for its cost and just an amazing instrument overall. If you want a uke, and can afford this one, buy it. You won't regret it.

We purchased this ukulele for our teenaged daughter who has played piano for several years and understands music theory. She really enjoys learning and playing this instrument.

We decided on this model over others based primarily on Guitar Center reviews and reviews elsewhere on the internet. Quality seems to be very good. Intonation is also very good.

Purchased a matching GC concert ukulele case with which she's also very happy.

two stars is because I like the way it sounds and I like the natural look of it. The quality is pretty bad in my opinion. I paid $200 for it. I had to have them open three different Ukes before I found one that was acceptable. Even then I was settling and told the person I got it for that they could take it back if they were bothered by the blemishes. The first two had glue spots in random places on the body.

Playing guitar for 20 years, as an amateur. Hurt my arm so temporarily can't move well - so a uke! It's a shorter size and I can play.

The wood is a great look, inlays are terrific, neck and frets play nicely. Binding is very nice looking but had a number of rough spots somehow. A little light sanding with wife's emory board solved that. Finish is otherwise very nice.

Plays great. Strings are great, but be mindful they need time to stretch. Took my E string about 2 days of playing before it stayed in tune (others were good from the go). Tuners are good quality.

Four stars only because a 2 minute sanding from the factory would have corrected the little roughness in the binding.
