Comments about Korg G1 AIR Digital Piano:
This is the second Korg digital piano I've owned - and the best so far! The sound is fantastic: I keep switching between the three main piano sounds because I can't decide which one sounds best. Comes with built-in speakers. The weighted keys with "real hammer action" feel like a real keyboard, and keep your fingers in shape if you're switching between digital and acoustic pianos. The case is attractive, and closed it has a very small footprint.
Comments about Korg G1 AIR Digital Piano:
5.0 * (WOW! Blown Away) is way too low a rating for this baby.
I'm a high end piano player with serious chops. I've been going through the still frustrating process of finding a "real" digital piano for both studio and live. I do own some great piano "sounds" Kurzweil and Roland and was using a Korg LP-380 to trigger them. And that worked out very well. Even for some solo and/or "real" piano parts.
However I was looking for a piano to do restaurant gigs with. I got one of these beauties.
The playability (action) can handle anything I throw at it, unlike EVERY OTHER BRAND! (I'm giving Kawai's Grand Feel action a pass since I've heard it's great but haven't tried it yet. If it's as good as they say I'll get one (MP 11-SE) for studio.
But what really impresses me even more is the expressiveness, the "mix" you get all along the various ranges, the touch, and the overall sound. This may be hard to believe, but it is the best piano of any sort I've ever played with the exception of a few great Steinways I've played.
For a restaurant gig it may be even better than the real thing because the volume is more controllable. And with the speakers hitting your ears first it is easy to get the proper level for both you and the customers/crowd whether they are noisy or quiet. And it will fill a fairly large room. Great speaker system.
I know Korg does not have a good history for having great piano sounds. I've never used them in the past. I've always Korgs for their action (midi trigger) and some of their "patches" sounds. But they got this right!!
Don't spend the 2-10K other "popular" brands are plying off as great "real" pianos. If you are a "real" piano player :-) and demand a piano that can keep up with your excellent technique and still be more expressive than you'd ever think a digital piano could be, this is the one. And the price is ridiculously low for what you get!
It still impresses me and I love playing every night I play. Not just passable/doable/OK. This is a
