Must have for amps without a master volume
I have an EVH LBX ii 5150 with no reasonable volume control. This LBAB was just what I needed to fix that noisy amplifier problem. If you have a noise gate with the X setup...gating your onboard amp without distortion pedals, then just put this after the noise gate before the modulation pedals and your ready to go. My only complaint is it's shape. Pedals this size need to be placed vertically with the input jacks on the sides. Other than that, I don't use very many pedals, so it was easy to work around.

Not what it claims
This thing claims to do things that an attenuator does, lower volume without changing tone. Since it's in the effects loop and is an adjustable resistance pot, it actually acts like a guitar volume, if you turn it down an overdriven amp cleans up, a clean amp loses highs. To do what it claims it would have to be after the power amp and sap wattage, not be in the effects loop before the power amp where all it can possibly do is affect tone.

As a budget conscious home player, I have a FM212r for its volume ability in a live situation, but it has never been suitable for home practice or recording. Now with this little box in the effects loop, I can set the amp's volume at five and control the output with the JHS box! Sounds great to me!

I bought this out of necessity. I have a Fender Hot Rod DeVille that goes from 0 to TOO LOUD. I absolutely love my DeVille and didn't want to part with it, so I got this to tame the beast. If you have a tube amp over 20 Watts, get this Amp Box!
