Overview

Part of the new JBL PRX-800W series, the PRX818XLFW presents all of the latest design and production advances developed by the research team at JBL. Created by industry leaders in loudspeaker technology, PRX818XLFW features wireless control and sophisticated DSP, so live sound professionals and musicians can quickly set up and configure a system right from a mobile tablet. PRX818XLFW also features class-leading power and a remarkably lightweight design that makes transportation easy. Thoughtfully designed from the ground up to deliver legendary JBL sound for demanding artists, PRX818XLFW represents the next generation in controllable and portable live sound reinforcement.

PRX818XLFW is the first subwoofer in its class to offer complete wireless control. The PRX Connect mobile app for iOS and Android connects wirelessly to each unit in the system simultaneously, providing full control over the powerful DSP built in to each speaker. With control over EQ, speaker delay, mute, gain and more, PRX Connect helps musicians achieve the perfect sound for their performances, faster than ever before. Users can walk around the venue during sound check and fine-tune the speakers for optimal sound quality. PRX Connect also makes it easy to configure shows offline and save presets for fast future setup.

Featuring integrated 1500-watt Class-D power amplification along with a 15” Patented JBL Differential Drive™ woofer featuring reduced magnet mass and increased power handling. Updated tuning delivers flat frequency response and smooth off-axis behavior. The all-wood cabinets feature durable tongue-in-groove joints, tour-proven DuraFlex protective finish and dent-resistant 16-gauge steel grilles. PRX818XLFW systems undergo a stringent testing regimen, including a 100-hour torture test, to ensure peak performance in any real-world environment. The combined result is an ultra-reliable and remarkably lightweight system capable of delivering clear, pristine audio at extraordinarily high volumes.

PRX818XLFW subwoofers are packed with innovations from HARMAN’s industry-leading live sound brands, introducing a new level of flexibility, scalability and sound quality to the portable PA category. The redesigned Crown input panel offers XLR, 1/4” and RCA inputs plus XLR loop-through and professional outputs to provide plenty of options for input sources and routing. dbx Type IV™ limiting eases the system back to a safe level when any frequency band is in limit, ensuring that the sound is accurate and uncompressed, even at very high volumes over long periods of time. An intelligent variable-speed fan cools the system only as needed to ensure optimal sound quality during quiet performances.

Comments about JBL PRX818XLFW Powered 18" Self-Powered Extended Low-Frequency Sub:

I know reviews are extremely bias but I want you all to know what you are spending your money on! I went to my local Guitar Center here in Charlotte, North Carolina with intentions of purchasing two subwoofers. I sampled every last demo sub that was available. Those included the EV ELX15, the QSC KW181, Harbinger VaRi 18in sub, the JBL EON 1000W sub, and two other subs.

Stop right there! price to performance ratio, NONE OF THESE SUBS OUTPERFORMED THIS WOOFER. And when I say OUTPERFORMED, i'm talking about depth of bass, loudness, thump, accuracy, and distortion.

I know that people swear by certain brands and thats all fine and dandy. However, Im not that guy. I am someone who needs the best for the money regardless of the brand. The only competitors were the EV ELX and that even bottomed out at higher volumes; in addition to the QSC which didnt bottom out but the low lows (40 hz and under) didnt sound good at all. The JBL had tons more of head room compared to the EV.

Im not sure it the QSC would be worth the extra $399 just to get a pole mount and casters (wheels). BOth of which you can get for much cheaper. Yeah, with QSC you get top quality as well as with EV, JBL, YAMAHA, etc but this would be more than sufficient for the mass majority of people in the price range.

The biggest negative is that the JBL has the biggest box with the EV was second and the QSC was the smallest. I hope this helps guys who were stuck like me at one point and time.

I bought this to compliment my 2 JBL Eons tops & have gotten a lot of great review for other Dj's on the sound this thing deliver. I play mostly Caribbean music dancehall & soca which have heavy bassssssssss & this thing KICK thinking of grabbing another 1.
Joke... I did a backyard party last summer around 100-125 people so i had to push it hard & the neighbors called the Cops because things were shaking off there walls.......TRUE STORY.
