For 25 years the SR has given bass players a modern alternative. As its popularity has expanded, the iconic series continues to excite with its smooth, fast neck, lightweight body and perfectly matched electronics.
The SR650 is a handsome 4-string bass designed with the working musician in mind. At the heart of this bass is an Ash body, chosen for its bright, articulate tone and long sustain. The SR650 sports a 5-pc Jatoba/Bubinga SR4 neck and a Rosewood fretboard, embedded with elegant Abalone oval inlays. An Accu-cast B300 bridge provides excellent string vibration transfer and precise intonation.
For electronics, the SR650 features Nordstrand CND pickups in a classic P/J combination, a versatile setup almost indispensable for the working musician. Specifically designed for Ibanez, these passive pickups deliver a very present tone that easily punches through any mix. Equalization controls include a 3-band Active EQ with a bypass switch for precise tone management.

Comments about Ibanez SR650 4-String Electric Bass Guitar:
I am an intermediate bass player (drummer primarily) who is 50+. This is my third bass, but I have tried many--and second Ibanez bass. I was initially drawn to Ibanez SR series because of the light weight and fast neck--the latter works for me. However, this SR 650 is real special because of the tonal range these pick-ups provide which is far superior to others in the price range, and the other Ibanez basses which might be only a few $ less. The Active/Passive capabilities provide flexibility, and the Growl that comes from these pick-ups can rival a more expensive Jazz bass--but is much lighter weight and plays better IMHO. It's a great bass for all levels.
