Throughout the past 30 years, the Ibanez SR series basses have evolved into one of the most popular and distinctive bass guitars in the world—the choice of players from every level—pro and novice alike. In celebrating this iconic line, Ibanez is pleased to offer four 30th-anniversary models that embody the quality, design and tone that has become the essence of the SR series.
As part of the esteemed Ibanez Premium line, the SR30TH4PE is manufactured with select tonewoods and high-profile electronics by some of the most experienced and skilled Ibanez craftsman. This 4-string bass features a semi-hollow Bubinga top and an Ash/ Mahogany back body shaped in the iconic SR design. Three oval sound holes add to the unique, artistic design of the bass, while enhancing the warm, rich resonance of the semi-hollow construction. A slightly thicker body, combined with the half-hollow construction, helps to maintain both comfort and body balance.
An Atlas-4 5pc Wenge/Bubinga neck, with Wenge fretboard, features medium frets and Abalone oval inlay. The neck end adjustment allows for easy neck adjustment without loosening the strings. The Mono-Rail V Bridge offers a wide intonation range and is the ultimate bridge for bass string isolation. Each saddle is independently and securely locked down to the body for maximum vibration transfer without interference.
Electronics include single-coil Nordstrand “Big Single” pickups, for a full-bodied, aggressive tonal texture that retains the clarity associated with single-coil pickups. The Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ, with EQ bypass switch and 3-way mid frequency switch allows for precise tonal control (250 Hz, 450 Hz, and 700 Hz). When the EQ bypass is activated, the treble-tone control knob acts as a passive tone control for the instrument’s output. This setup, combined with the warmth of the semi-hollow Mahogany body, creates a tone that is warm and “woody”, while retaining clarity and definition.
The SR30TH4PE also features Gotoh machine heads for superior tuning stability.

Comments about Ibanez SR30TH4PE Electric Bass Guitar:
I saw this bass in my trip across the US for the Aug 2017 solar eclipse. I spotted it in Salt Lake City, but it was the non-Premium model. I didn't get it, but after returning from the trip I decided to order the Premium model from the San Jose, CA GC shop.
It is one of the easiest basses to play; it rivals the Carvin basses I own. The fretwork is smooth and a welcomed plus. The woods are stunning, the action is nice and low. It balances nicely with minimal neck dive. The weight is unbelievably light due to the semihollow construction. The oval holes--you either like them or hate them; I think they are cool, in an alien way.
The tones are diverse and musically useful. The mid-scoop sound is addictingly good. And the passive setting has some deep bass tones.
After I bought it, I found out that ONLY 15 of these were made--it's a VERY LIMITED RUN, which is why there were no reviews for it (until now). The non-Premium one had a limited run of 150. I feel very special in that I have an extremely rare bass, and it plays so amazingly well.
If you got the money, get one while you can. I think it was worth it. It pretty much nails that Chris Squire Rick tone, the Geddy Lee Jazz tone, and then some. The Nordstrand pickups are some of the best sounding "boutique" pickups on the market--and you get TWO of them with this bass! It's got an aggressive tone, but can be dialed back to get all sorts of other tones as well.
The hardshell case is a great bonus as well!
I bought mine with the GC card and am paying it off in installments over the next year. So worth it! Don't let this one pass you by--it's a rare bird and it can really sing!
