Overview

Ibanez' marvel of form and function, the S Series, continues to evolve for today's player. Cloaked in a dramatic burst finish, a rosewood fingerboard features jumbo frets. Lurking beneath the S Series graceful 3-D shape is mahogany specifically chosen for S Series instruments.

Light enough to amaze in terms of comfort, heavy enough to provide the tone and sustain that players expect from the S Series. As the originators of the thin, fast neck, the Wizard III neck is yet another achievement in playability, providing the kind of comfort that translates to responsiveness and speed.

Infinity pickups, along with 5-way switch, were chosen for the inspiring way they complement each other to create a wide pallet of tonal options that add fire, retain clarity, and improve sustain.

Comments about Ibanez S521 S Series Electric Guitar:

I first had the 771PB, but realized that the 521 was the same without the middle pickup. I have a Tele if I want Single coil sound. I got the 771 because the fatter tones were really beautiful, and I only use clean sound, a little OD if playing blues would be the exception, and the neck on these Ibanezes is so wonderful, and it's so light - portable, throw it in the car, take to the beach, keep in the car to noodle and practice with when tired of being inside - and the clean sustain is endless so I thought it would be the perfect "c" ax after my 335 and my Tele. But other than the nice thick neck pickup tone on the 521, the other tones were all weak, and I didn't like that the neck was not bound, it just feels unfinished. So I sent the 521 back and will settle for a 670qm, with the 3rd pickup and a bound fretboard. All 3 of these guitars have the same wonderful neck and sustain, and the minimalist lightweight body that's easy to grab and go or play sitting in the lazy boy. My sweet spot has the fatter clean tones and the bound fretboard, but all 3 models have value at their price point.

At first I was not sure how I would like the light-weight design, but I quickly fell in love with it. The guitar is very comfortable due to its unique shape

Comments about Ibanez S521 S Series Electric Guitar:

A very nice little price-point guitar for the beginner or the experienced player. Light in weight, with an extremely comfortable neck, it possesses excellent playability and tonal quality. The mahogany body is quite resonant for such a thin body, and gives excellent feedback when playing unplugged. The pickups/electronics were a pleasant surprise as well. Overall, an exceptional acquisition for low $$$, Fun to play, well set up out of the box, and great for jamming or practice or whatever. I would consider gigging with it. If lost or stolen, I would want to get another. Fit and finish is excellent and is typical of Ibanez' fine products. I did change the control knobs out for aesthetic reasons.

Comments about Ibanez S521 S Series Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar cause of the reviews. But when I pulled it out of the box it had major fret buzz on all but 2 open strings. So I spent another $100 for someone to fix it. He said the frets were not in good shape either and had to fix those.

But now, I have a nice guitar. I just wish it came out of the box in good condition, like the Fender Strat I got from Bill's Music in Catonsville the month before.
