Overview

If Ibanez can lay claim to the title of being the strongest name in Metal guitars, then the RGA is the model this reputation was built on. Every inch of this classic screams speed, fury, and expression.

The RGAT62 is a hardtail 6-string electric built around a Mahogany body wing body. Its contoured top not only looks sleek—it creates a softer, more comfortable edge where the player’s right forearm rests. The Wizard III 5pc Maple/ Walnut through constructed neck feature jumbo frets and a Rosewood fretboard that not only provides optimal articulation, but enhances playing speed as well. This neck and fretboard combination provides a smooth, inviting playing surface and contributes to the RGAT62’s warm, well-defined tonality.

DiMarzio Air Norton and The Tone Zone pickups were chosen for the inspiring way they complement each other to create a wide pallet of tonal options that add fire and improve sustain, yet retain clarity. Wired through a 5-way selector switch, they can be combined in a variety of configurations that offer numerous tonal options. A simple, yet solid fixed bridge provides stable, dependable tuning and accurate intonation. Case sold separately.

Comments about Ibanez RGA Series RGAT62 Electric Guitar:

First, the guitar is awesome! It plays and sounds great! Only giving it 4 stars for the way I received it. When you buy a new guitar especially online you expect a new in box from the manufacturer. This was not the case in my case. I received it a Schecter box and the guitar was wrapped in bubble wrap and the box filled with packing popcorn. As it turned out it was shipped from a store and it was on display. So I got a display model that who knows how many people played on. I was very disappointed and almost shipped it back. I called local GC and they topd me that each store only had one or two of these guitars and that they put them out on display. My issue is that when a guitar listed on the GC website and it is not a in box new item that you should be informed that you are buying an open box guitar. I felt deceived and called GC to complain. They apologized and the guy who's name was Desmond was very nice and gave me a discount on the guitar. If it wasn't for him this guitar was going to go back. So when buying online I would suggest calling in your order and make sure you are getting a new in box guitar . Otherwise you may get a floor model.

Comments about Ibanez RGA Series RGAT62 Electric Guitar:

This guitar not only feels like a literal extension of my person, but has a honestly surprising tonal range. The dimarzio pickups are such a perfect pairing with one another. the bridge can play anything from overdriven metal to some pretty fat sounding chords, the neck can shred and find harmonics. Combined with the right amounts of gain you can pretty much get any sound of it. Playing this is honestly a religious experience.

Comments about Ibanez RGA Series RGAT62 Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar yesterday morning, because I had fallen in love with the feel and look of it, and the pickups sounded great in the store. I should have payed more attention though; I got home and upon further inspection found that acoustically there was fret buzz all up and down the neck, even a few dead notes. I adjusted the truss rod, action, and intonation until everything measured right. That took care of the dead notes and most of the fret buzz. Any more neck relief or any higher action would have made this guitar much too uncomfortable to play, so there was no more I could do about the fret buzz.

I took it back to GC later the same day. Their tech guy was kind enough to inspect it for me. He said that it was set up correctly and nothing seemed to be wrong with the guitar. Acoustically he heard the fret buzz, but he plugged it in and it sounded clean through an amp. He explained that some electric guitars just buzzed a little, and that since the pickups don't sense this minor buzz, this is generally regarded as acceptable.

I understand why this would be acceptable to some, but it's not for me. Even if the buzzing sound is not directly picked up and amplified, the physical friction from the string lightly hitting other frets is bound to detract from the tone and sustain of the note played. Also, having spent time tinkering with the guitar, I became very aware of the way the buzzing notes felt in the neck. Complete deal-breaker. I returned the guitar.

The fact that the craftsmanship was such that this guitar needs serious luthier work right out of the box in order to be anything more than "acceptable", gives me the feeling that it is a cheap toy. This is incredibly disappointing for two reasons: first, everything else about this guitar is incredible; second, I recently bought an Ibanez Iron Label RGD, and that thing is darn near perfect with no buzz at all after a basic setup.

I'm saving up for another baller Iron Label axe.

It is a hell of a guitar. I'm just not a big fan of dimarzio pickups so I'm gonna go with some invaders. Other than that everything is perfect! The feel is great! Thanks guys!

Classic sound but not actual color

Comments about Ibanez RGA Series RGAT62 Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar to play classic rock and it's a perfect sound and very snappy . I like the color gray online But when I opened the box I saw a black guitar with hints of gray . Not sure if it would've been the same if I sent it back for another one . I kept it , the sound is most important.

Comments about Ibanez RGA Series RGAT62 Electric Guitar:

This guitar has the longest sustain of any guitar I've ever owned, thanks to it's neck through construction. The Wizard III 5pc Maple/ Walnut through constructed neck is Simply Awesome! Hit a note and it seems to sustain all day.... It plays excellent and sounds great. Pictures don't do it justice. It looks sweet in sapphire blue. I would recommend this guitar to students and pro's alike.

Comments about Ibanez RGA Series RGAT62 Electric Guitar:

First the bad, the initial setup was not great. The action was really high, the neck had way too much relief and the saddles weren't properly matched up to the fretboard radius. Not a deal breaker since these issues can be fixed. Now for the good stuff. It's really comfortable to play, not too heavy and sounds great. The Tone Zone/Air Norton pickup combo was a good choice. They're well really balanced to each other and do everything from crystal cleans to high gain metal. The upper frets are easily accessible and sustain for days with the neck-thru design. At this price point it's kind of tough to beat for what you're getting. I tried a couple of the more expensive Iron Label series guitars in the store too and didn't like them nearly as much. Even with the poor factory setup I could tell this was the better choice for me. Thumbs up Ibanez, this guitar does everything so well it's now my new go-to axe.
