Overview

The PNB14E Parlor acoustic-electric bass guitar is a short scale acoustic bass guitar that utilizes a parlor body shape. This compact instrument is ideal for situations such as playing on the couch, outdoors, as well as more informal occasions. However, the PBN14E Parlor acoustic-electric bass is also a valuable onstage tool. Since the 24.7" short scale is similar in feel to a regular guitar, it is more comfortable for both guitarists and electric bassists to play than a full-size acoustic bass. The shorter scale and compact parlor body also make it a more user-friendly platform for beginners.

Despite the compact body size, the PNB14E Parlor bass guitar has an impressively powerful acoustic volume. The "open pore" finish, as well as the African mahogany top, back and sides, contribute greatly to the overall tone. The neck joint being located at the 12th fret means the bridge connects at the center of the lower bout, which maximizes sonic resonance.

The "open pore" finish creates a more vintage feel, allowing the natural texture of the wood to be felt. The satin finish of the mahogany neck helps facilitate fast and smooth position changes. The Ibanez Under Saddle Pickup accurately reproduces the acoustic nature of the bass, while the Ibanez AEQ-SP2 preamp provides the extra punch of onboard EQ, and the convenience of an easy-to-read digital tuner located on the upper bout.

Gorgeous, high quality, fun

Comments about Ibanez PNB14E Parlor Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar:

Got this for my gf who's been playing bass and wanted a "couch bass" that she could casually grab and sing with. It's definitely a gorgeous instrument and plays and comes set up well, and is loud enough acoustically to practice and sing with in a living room, but we were blown away by the deeper, beautiful sound it made when plugged into an amp (it sounds better than her electric bass when plugged in). The built-in tuner and easy-to-replace 9v battery compartment are also nice touches, as well as the short scale length. I recommend this for practicing unplugged and performing amplified, though you could certainly perform unplugged for a small group of friends (though not sure if it's quite loud enough to accompany an acoustic guitar, but maybe/possibly).

Comments about Ibanez PNB14E Parlor Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar:

I played this instrument at Guitar Center, and the E string had a problem with the amplification. Basically, the top 3 strings sounded fine, but the volume of the E string, when plugged in, was about half of the other 3 strings. The repair giy in the shop played it, agreed with me, and recommended that it get returned ti the manufacturer. I drove 15 miles to the nearest Guitar Center, and theirs had the exact same problem. It's a shame...I was ready to buy it but definitely won't now.

Comments about Ibanez PNB14E Parlor Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar:

I am very happy with this purchase it sounds great it's good quality the only bummer is that it said it came with a gig bag, so I went back to get one and they gave me this huge gig bag that the thing is swimming in? I just wanted one that would fit but the employee acted like I was trying to get over on you guys. I only spend thousands of dollars there and I thought it was unprofessional. I'm going back with it still tags attached and get one that fits and just pay extra. That's the only part that sucked otherwise I'm happy.

Comments about Ibanez PNB14E Parlor Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar:

I play in a trio and our music is mostly bluegrass and folk. Just played one gig so far and adjusting to the short scale. Sound is good.
