Overview

With the growing popularity of the Iron Label series, Ibanez continues to tap the seismic underworld for inspiration. Working their famous RG body shape from the “chassis” up, the RGDIX7MPB is a stunning creation of unique beauty that adds a new dimension to the brand’s no-frills “made-for-metal” lineup.

This striking 7-string electric brings a unique new air of exotic elegance to the Iron Label series. The guitar’s asymmetric, Surreal Blue Bursted, Poplar Burl top creates a sense of depth, motion and beauty reminiscent of the bluest, most placid waters of the sunlit Caribbean. Pitted against a layered Ash body, these woods combine to create a bright, almost otherworldly color scheme.

Working from the philosophy that playing comfort translates into speed and articulation, the RGDIX7MPB features a gorgeous, Birdseye Maple fretboard mounted on a 3-piece Maple/Bubinga Nitro Wizard-7 neck that both enhances playing agility and optimizes tonal clarity. The acclaimed Ibanez Gibraltar Standard II-7 bridge improves sustain and provides faultless intonation.

Specifically developed for this guitar through close collaboration between Ibanez and DiMarzio—Fusion Edge 7 pickups have been engineered to produce a powerful, distinctive tone with crisp, cutting, high end, and a tight, compressed bottom end, minus any muddy mid range. Ready for metal, the RGDIX7MPB ships from Ibanez, tuned down a full step.

The RGDIX7MPB presents yet another reason why the Ibanez Iron Label series is winning over new die-hard converts every day. Case sold separately.

Fantastic guitar for the price

Comments about Ibanez Iron Label RGD Series RGDIX7MPB 7-String Electric Guitar (26.5" scale):

I got this guitar last week, it's awesome. It looks amazing and love the new Fusion pickups. they sound really tight but very dynamic in a way, you can hear every single string . Well, the 26.5 scale is a little tough to play lead if you're used to playing a 6 string. The only thing that throw me back a little was the way either Ibanez or Guitar center had it setup out of the box. I had to spend 2 hrs to adjust the intonation. Also, the hardware felt a little cheap specially the tuners, but the guitar itself plays and sounds like a premium, so for the price I wasn't surprised. If you're used to playing low action like me, You cannot go too low on the action, you'll get a lot of fret buzz but maple makes it real easy to bend without loosing resonate, so I don't mind. Overall, it's a great guitar, I'd buy it again.

Comments about Ibanez Iron Label RGD Series RGDIX7MPB 7-String Electric Guitar (26.5" scale):

I play in a progressive metalcore band (think Erra, Invent Animate, Northlane) and it seems built for it. The hardware and pickups are perfect and is the first time I don't want to swap anything out. The bridge pickup just has this midrange and bite to it while being clear that is exactly what I wanted. The neck pickup is great for leads and has this fat but clear, almost chimey sound when in a clean channel that's perfect for me too. Pairs perfectly with my 6505+ with a tubescreamer and decimator before the amp. It works great for rock and similar genres too, but you might find the pickups too "clear" where they don't have the meat as something more commonly used. Think periphery clearness vs something like a breaking Benjamin type chunkiness. Handles drop A and lower while staying super clear and retaining the note fundamentals.
