I'm a guitar player of 30 years, but wanted to learn bass and bass techniques. My wife bought it for me after hearing me talk about my old band mate friend's 5-string fretless bass. Sound is amazing. It feels solid. It's a well-made and a beautiful-looking instrument. I just love it. Super fun change of pace from my guitars. I play it almost every night. The only issue is I had to adjust the truss rod to slack a bit because the higher frets were buzzing a little. It comes with all the hex wrenches so it wasn't a big deal. After that adjustment it feels and sounds fantastic.

  • Great bass for the money.

Currently using half round strings. They give a nice growl. Don't exceed Ibanez''s recommended gauge, 45 - 135. Play the bass through different amps b to get the best picture.

This is my first 5-string, but it seems like a very well made bass. Solid high quality components, and it sounds great.

For the life of me I don't understand why the other reviewers recommend flat rounds. To get the classic fretless sound round rounds are a must. I tried flat rounds and the sound was lacking in definition and color, a bit thumpy.

This is one great fretless for the money! The neck is extremely easy to move around. Balanced great due to the ABS molded tuning knobs, and the tuning machines are a nice touch as you can use a phillips head screwdriver to make quick tuning adjustments. The cut allows you to reach all "frets" and has enough room to get at that "24th" with the pinky while keeping innotation. The bass comes with round wound strings that sound good but I REALLY recommend flatwound strings on this bass. The Bartolini pickup sounds amazing. This model does not have the bypass pull knob. Only con that I can come up with is that there is no hard case offered specific to this model.

  • Fantastic Bass, Cheaper than most

This bass is simply amazing, the only real work you have to do is to change the roundwound strings to flatwounds for that authentic fretless sound. Perfect for any kind of bassist who wants to expanded into fretless territory, not recommended for beginners. Great for almost every genre of music.

What is the weight of this instrument?

    Open Reply - Gear-Advisor
All basses vary depending on the density of the wood. Even the same model can vary up to 1.5 lbs Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Bass Guitars are generally between 8.00 and 10.00 lbs. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. I'm sorry I don't have one to weigh. This will be approximately 8.5 – 9.5 lbs.

Can I use medium gauge tapewound strings on this bass?

Yes, you can. It probably will require some adjustment. It's best to have a tech look at it.
