Ibanez

collapse expand iconDescription

The Ibanez miKro GRGM21M is a high-quality electric guitar perfect for beginners and smaller players. Featuring the iconic shape of the Ibanez RG in a 3/4-size format with a 22.2" scale maple neck, this six-string allows developing musicians to start rocking out right away. The GRGM21M includes two Infinity R humbucking pickups that provide a thick, punchy tone suited for hard rock and metal. An accessible neck and medium frets make playing a breeze, allowing young rockers to focus on technique and skills. The Ibanez miKro GRGM21M brings real components and construction down to size, proving that great things can come in small packages.

Full-Featured Hardware Built for Beginners

While smaller in stature, the GRGM21M includes pro-level appointments found on full-scale Ibanez models. Infinity R pickups deliver warm, distorted tones and a five-way blade switch provides tonal variety. Chrome hardware, including a fixed bridge, complements the finish. Tuning is made simple with machine heads that hold pitch steadily through rocking out. The shorter 22.2" scale length reduces tension, making the GRGM21M ideal for building strength and skills.

Iconic Styling in an Accessible Size

The GRGM21M brings the renowned Ibanez RG shape to life in a 3/4 size perfect for beginners and smaller players. With an instantly recognizable body styling and eye-catching metallic purple finish, this guitar looks as rebellious as it sounds. A sleek, thin-profile neck allows for comfortable playing over long practice sessions, while a cutaway provides access to higher frets. The compact size reduces weight, making the GRGM21M suitable for younger rockers still developing their strength and skills.

Premium Components and Construction

As an official Ibanez model, the miKro GRGM21M is built to the same high standards of quality as full-scale guitars. A basswood body provides a balanced, resonant tone, while a maple neck offers stability and sustain. Chrome hardware, including a fixed bridge, tuners and control knobs, provides durability and a touch of style. Infinity R humbuckers deliver a range of distorted rock tones, from vintage grit to high-gain roar. Combined with a compact, playable format, these premium appointments make the GRGM21M a serious instrument.

Excellent Christmas gift!

Purchased the metallic purple one to give as a gift for Christmas. The look on her face was priceless and she loves it. Strings come standard, so if you prefer heavier ones, be sure to pick some up. Guitar is visibly gorgeous and well made. I would definitely make this purchase again. Keep in mind it does not come with a guitar strap, so don't forget to buy one.

Good potential, lots of work req. out of box

Has potential to be good. Mine req. a significant amount of work to even be playable. Fret ends are sharp and not level. Nut is pathetic. Truss rod out of whack. Intonation was near impossible to set. Every screw was loose. Electronics sound flat and sad.

Bought for my nephew who was a little too small for a typical scale guitar. Sounds and feels great. Would recommend. #sweepstakes

On the Ibanez website, this model is supposed to come with Infinity R pickups, but on this website, it states that it comes with Powersounds. Is that an error or do they really come with the Powersounds?

I apologize for the confusion. They're Infinity pups. Thank you for pointing that out. I will pass it on to our web team.

It's whatever is more comfortable. There are no rules. A full size will sound better.

What gauge strings does this come with? 9s, 10s or 11s? Is it meant to be tuned to E-A-D-G-B-E? If its not set up for that, could increasing string gauge and a set up allow standard tuning with some tuning stability?
Thanks

This is a great guitar for an 11 year old. It's not overly small so there's room to grow into it, so it will last them a lot longer than a student sized model.

How is the action? Is it fast enough so shredding doesn't blister every finger? I'd put a hairband or another damper to reduce the noise when tapping of hammer on. Will this guitar be suitable for this?
