Comments about Ibanez Artcore Expressionist AFJ95 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I just got this new jazz box this week so I don't have a lot of experience with it yet, but I know I am going to love it. I tried out many hollow body guitars before settling on this (Epiphone Joe Pass, Joe Pass Pro, Swingster, Casino, and a Gretsch G5420T), but the Ibanez was the smoothest and easiest to play right off the wall with no fiddling. I was all set to get the Epiphone Joe Pass this time when I went to the store (it was my previous favorite of the ones that I had tried previously) but the Ibanez just one me over after careful a/b comparisons. They are almost identical bodies and necks, with a nicer finish on the Joe Pass, but the Ibanez just felt better in my hands, played easier, and sounded better to me; I don't know how much of this was due to the flat wound strings that were on the Ibanez vs. the round wound strings on the Joe Pass. I am used to an Epi ES-339 so the larger size body and neck will take some getting used to but it is already starting to feel familiar. If the Joe Pass had flat wounds it may have been the winner; I think the strings that Epiphone supplies are the wrong strings for that guitar to get the most from it, and it makes for a less than fair comparison

Comments about Ibanez Artcore Expressionist AFJ95 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I use this guitar for blues and jazz. In my opinion this is as good as it can get. The frets feel amazing and it plays so smooth. The neck is very comfortable. Nothing bad about in my opinion. And stays in tune very well

Best value in a hollow body electric

    By David

    from Boise Idaho

Comments about Ibanez Artcore Expressionist AFJ95 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I tried several different semi and full hollow body guitars out before I picked this one up. It was love at first sight. I may be just a hobbyist but I have a lot of knowledge about guitars. The quality of the work and materials in this instrument are unmatched in this price range. I know that a lot of people out there will think I am nuts but you would have to move up to a an American made Gibson and spend some serious bread to match this guitar. It plays like butter. The pickups smooth and mellow. Beautiful sounding guitar nice rich mellow sound with good sustain. Great for blues and rock the kind of guitar that calls to you and makes you want to pick it up.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore Expressionist AFJ95 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This guitar was accidently sent to another Guitar Center customer who was nice enough to call them and then forward it on to me. Sure, the person sending it the second time likely didn't care much, but even so, I am at a total loss for how GC could have shipped it like this! The box was an extremely oversized DiAngelico box and there was almost no bubble wrap inside. The guitar has tons of dust on it and huge gouges out of the headstock and by the F hole. The guitar itself sounds only ok. It is way ugly too. Not great craftsmanship by Ibanez on this one. Still, I have a guitar that was terribly shipped and I don't think all these dings and gouges are from shipping. I was cool to the store employee who called and apologized for sending this to the wrong state. He was cool right back and he even gave me a discount on a harmonica. But he told me that this had been in his store and it played well. That should have tipped me off ... GC leaves this in store as displays and then sends them to us as new in bad boxes. I mean, what is that? Come on! It was so dusty and dinged up. Frustrating.
