Overview

As evidenced by its long-standing association with such giants of jazz guitar as George Benson, Pat Metheny, and John Scofield, Ibanez has been a constant pioneer in the world of hollow-body guitar building for more than three decades. Part of that legacy is owed to the Artcore collection, which has succeeded in smashing any and all preconceptions in its wake as to what a great hollow or semi-hollow ought to be.

The Artcore formula builds on equal parts luthiery know-how, daring design, and a passion for warm, full-bodied tone. The AF71 will be appreciated by players who dread taking his or her expensive custom built instrument to the beer ˜n' a shot bar gig. Under its refined black-with-white-binding, AF71 features a select-grade Maple top, back, and sides.

The fingerboard is warm bound Rosewood, contrasted by brilliant pearl block inlays. The Artcore Mahogany neck has proven its reliability on thousands of Ibanez hollow and semi-hollow bodies throughout the years. AMH1 pickup is moderate output, feedback suppressing, and warm in tone yet very responsive.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF71F Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Perfect for practicing unplugged. Fret buzz is the only negative. Most guitars will require a fret leveling to get a low action. Great bargain for an archtop.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF71F Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I was surprised about this one. Plays well. Mine has no buzz like some other reviewers experienced. Bridge could be lowered on this then perhaps I'd get the buzz. So far it's just fun to play and sounds great with the vol rolled down a few ticks and the tone about half way. Nice woody sound. I have many many guitars and lots of expensive Ibanez, but I love this for it's fun. I can throw it around and I won't worry about it getting dinged. Great starter jazz box. And great to practice on as the neck is a bit chunky, but not too much. I'd recommend it and if it buzzes, take it to your luthier if you can't fix it yourself. Worth the money.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF71F Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I've tested a few guitar styles but I always find it lacking. I tried Ibanez AF-75, Epiphone ES-339, a Telecaster and a Strat. I was mainly looking for a guitar that's resonant and closer to an acoustic. My music interest has changed in the past year. I used to play overdriven rhythm from classic rock songs and such. Then I started paying more attention to jazz guitarists. They're sound is so sweet!

So I bought a used one here at Guitar Center's website. I got the black one that they don't make anymore. It's a 2012 model. Looks brand new to be honest. Few light scratches that would go away with a good buffing, but hey, I think it adds character.

Sound is so resonant. Although not like an acoustic. It's loud enough so I can practice late at night even when unplugged. I replaced the round wound strings that came with it with D'addario Chromes XL ECG23. Oh boy, did that change the tone! It's warmer, and quite the sound I was looking for. It's also less prone to feedback so I can turn the amp a little bit louder even if I sit next to it. The humbucker is just right. Warm sound and not sounding brittle like the AF75's Ceramic.

Really impressed about this guitar. Great craftsmanship for it's price.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF71F Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I love this guitar. I have way more expensive ones including high end Ibanez, but this thing is funky, kick around, don't worry about breaking it kind of guitar. Light weight. Fun to pick up and jam with. I had NO buzzing and mine plays great. It's perfect. No fret issues, no bridge issues.. Really a great deal for the price.
