Ibanez AW54CEOPN Artwood Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar Open Pore Natural

Description
The Ibanez Artwood AW54CEOPN dreadnought acoustic-electric guitar brings together the warmth of solid okoume with innovative Fishman electronics for an instrument that sounds as good unplugged as it does amplified. Ibanez designed the Artwood series to honor their storied history of crafting acoustic guitars while incorporating features modern players demand. The AW54CEOPN's open-pore natural finish showcases mahogany's beautiful woodgrain and is complemented by a tortoise pickguard, chrome die-cast tuners, and a black and white rosette.
All-Okoume Body Resonates With Rich Tone
The AW54CEOPN's solid okoume top, back and sides provide a lush, balanced tone with strong projection. Okoume is a preferred tonewood for its warmth, sustain and midrange focus. An X-bracing pattern helps the okoume top move freely, enhancing resonance and producing full, articulate sound across the tonal spectrum. A cutaway gives players access to higher frets, expanding the AW54CEOPN's musical range.
Plug In and Dial In Your Sound
Ibanez equipped the AW54CEOPN with a Ibanez T-bar pickup and Ibanez AEQ-TP2 preamp with volume and 2-band EQ controls, letting you tweak your amplified tone with ease. An onboard tuner ensures you're always in tune, whether performing live or in the studio. The preamp's phase switch reduces unwanted feedback at high volumes, a useful feature for gigging guitarists.
Premium Components and Playability
A nyatoh neck and laurel fingerboard provide a smooth playing experience, while a rosewood bridge and bone nut and saddle translate string vibration into full, articulate tone. Chrome die-cast tuners keep the AW54CEOPN in tune through heavy playing. A tortoise pickguard protects the top from scratches and adds a touch of vintage style.

WOW- a sleeper keeper. Hard 'hog to beat.
Had low expectations and expected to put it right back. But this seriously rumbles and hoots. Blows away any other full 'hog near its price by a mile. And gives the rest up to $1500 a run for their money, including the Martin D-15M and DRS1, which are fantastic but way more boomy of course, so maybe trickier to record. This Ibanez is full, rich, plenty deep, very choral, and you can ping crystal harmonics to boot. Satin finish and plain trim are perfect for this wood. The natural grain is a silky beaut. Fits a bill and will def. be a go-to of mine for years to come. Very surprised and impressed. For this money, you're in for a real treat. Awesome find. Enjoy. (I don't give anything 5 stars unless it's absolutely *perfect imo regardless of money.)

Internal cracked bracing
This is my first acoustic guitar. I've played the bass for years and was looking for a good entry guitar to learn with. After reading several great reviews and seeing the guitar in the store it was an easy purchase. Within a week I noticed a large split on an internal brace. I took it back to the guitar center and the team there was excellent. They swapped the guitar out on the spot. They helped thoroughly inspect the new one for me. I'm a guitar center buyer for life, but I'll be looking at a different guitar brand when I upgrade.

Not sure what all the hype is about...

Decent setup from factory. However, the sound is lacking and reminds me of a laminate top guitar. Maybe the factory strings suck? The preamp is also pretty terrible, worse even than the basic Fishman Sonicore. If I were looking at this model I might go for the non-cutaway; save some $ and put my own pickup in it.
The sound is so beautiful it changed my music taste.

I was looking for a good acoustic guitar a few years back, while still having a rough budget. This guitar was not only unbelievably well priced, but the sound is unbelievable. I have found myself learning songs exclusively so I can play them on this guitar. The beauty of this piece completely changed the music I listened to just because I wanted to hear them on this guitar. A lot of reviews consider this guitar a "bang for your buck"; however, this guitar is so much more than an amazing price. It is a piece of art that creates a gorgeous tone that you just cant find in anything else. P.S. Before you buy, keep in mind that this is an open pore guitar. You'll need to make sure you get a case that you can keep it in during the colder months so it doesn't dry out.

I have had my Ibanez for a little over 6 years, I love this guitar. Mine is made from Mahogany, I know they went to a different type of wood a few years ago. HOPEFULLY it doesn't affect the guitar.
Ibanez…love it

I tried several guitars including Taylor and Martin but I found this Ibanez to provide amazing sound at an even more remarkable price.

Solid, beautiful, sounds great! I'm a beginner. Those that have seen it say it's much better than a true beginner's guitar. Problem: GC's website description is wrong. NOT Mahogany, Okoume instead. Check Ibanez website for 100% accurate description of the AW54CEOPN. GC must update.

How does the location of the front strap pin affect playability? Does it cause the guitar to try and shift as you hold it suspended by a strap?
really it doesn't effect much. some brands will put it on the upper bout others will put it on the back of the joint where the neck meets the body. Some brands prefer one where others prefer something different.submitted7 years ago
