The Hammond Sk2 is the Sk1 plus a second 61-note keyboard for added convenience-you may play the Sk2 as a two-manual organ, or assign the Drawbar/Extra Voice divisions to your choice of keyboard. It has all the vibe of the vintage B-3 into a trim 35-pound package. Much like its little brother, it gives you a wide series of other voices, like Acoustic and Electric Pianos, Clav, Vintage Combo Organs, Vintage String Synthesizer, Accordions, Pipe Organ, and many more. The Sk2 isn't a watered-down, light version of a Hammond, either. All the classic features that make a Hammond are included: real mechanical drawbars, Waterfall keyboard, touch-response percussion, Chorus Vibrato, and a new-generation Digital Leslie that gives the big speaker a run for the money. Your eyes will see an easily portable two-tiered organ, but close your ears will hear, and your fingers will feel a B-3.

Real deal portable Hammond!

By mike Tyler

Comments about Hammond Sk2 Organ:

My church recently purchased this clonewheel because we got tired of servicing our C3. Im the main musician in our band, and let me just say... WOW!!! Crisp Hammond sounds., Portability, and you can layer extra keyboard sounds. We have the leslie 3300, full pedals, leslie tremelo switch. Id never go back to our other organ. Hammond did a great job with this.

    Comments about Hammond Sk2 Organ:

This is a very ideal instrument for the overall production of an authentic Hammond Organ sound. It is very lightweight and with an external Leslie Speaker, it will deliver an impressive vintage sound, so required in many of yesterday's and today's music scenes. Affordable and one of the batter bargains in keyboards.

    High tech B-3

    By Jeffry

    Comments about Hammond Sk2 Organ:

Having owned a Hammond Porta-B and B-3 (sold both because of size & weight factor in moving with Leslie's), and also a Korg CX-3 clonewheel, this SK-2 is the best thing on the market. Great Hammond sound, the keys/feel is there, and with an adjustable digital Leslie, I am looking forward to returning to my early Hammond days. The fact it weighs 35 lbs. is unbelievable. The extra voices range from 'superb' to 'what were they thinking'? Some of the sound effects were included for a younger/rock/pop band, which I have no use for. Will learn how to download & add new voices from their site asap. Hammond did their homework on this one. Quite a bit less expensive than the Swedish clonewheel, and I purchased the Hammond volume pedal and half-moon Leslie switch for the true feel 100% (if you didn't learn how to correctly use a Hammond volume pedal, that's what separates the organist from a keyboard player. Can't wait for each gig!

    Product great. Customer service horrible

    Comments about Hammond Sk2 Organ:

I order the product online. Picked it up at the store. Opened the box to find out the power cable was missing. Called customer service and mentioned the product does not come with the power cord to what I mentioned it was ridiculous since In the actual manual of the product it indicated that it was included. after several phone calls and getting nowhere I had a 12v adapter which ended up working ordered the Hammond one later online for about 60. Guitar center does not carry the Hammond 12v adapter. I asked where did it say that it did not come with the adapter, customer service answered it does not say it comes with it. Anyway sound is great hope it comes with the plug or you will have to spend another 60 on top of the 2500+ you spent on the organ.

    Great organs, not great pianos.

    Comments about Hammond Sk2 Organ:

Obviously one purchases this keyboard for the organ features, and for that I'd give it high marks (drawbars, rotating speaker emulations and key click all at your fingertips). However, for the same money as Hammond's SK2, one can pick up Roland's DR-800 which as an overall keyboard, I'd much prefer. Roland's pianos are far superior, and Roland's organs are also very (very)good. Of course Roland's DR-800 doesn't have all the same organ features, and its keys are weighted like a real (very real) piano, which make it harder to play as an organ. Hammonds SK2 pianos lack sustain (and realism), and you can hear the noise floor when piano sound is present. That's not an issue on Hammond's organ sounds since they are much louder than their piano. Hammond's SK@ obviously also has a dual keyboard so you get two keys in one unit. That's an obvious benefit as well. Ultimately, I ended up with both the Hammond SK2, and the Roland DR-800 in my rig. If I could only have one keyboard though, I'd pick the Roland DR-800.
