The Hagstrom Viking Deluxe Tremar electric guitar features a double-cutaway semi hollow flamed maple body, 24-3/4" scale set hard maple neck, 6-inline headstock and 22-fret Resonator composite fingerboard dressed in pearl block inlays. Hagstrom's HJ-50 humbucking pickups are calibrated for large hollow body guitars and capture all the tonal nuances of this elegant instrument. The Hagstrom Tremar bridge was designed to ensure perfect tuning and intonation even under heavy use. The original Hagstom Viking semi-hollow body electric guitar was made famous in 1968 by the king himself: Elvis Presley!
Revolutionary Neck Design
The Viking Deluxe Tremar and all other Hagstrom electric guitars include the patented H-Expander Truss Rod. Providing tension at either end and running the entire length of the neck, the rigid yet lightweight alloy truss rod allows for a very low action and thin neck, two factors that were instrumental in earning Hagstrom its reputation as the world's fastest playing guitar. The fretboard is made from Hagstrom's own Resinator Wood, a composite wood that is homogeneous in nature and is more stable than any standard wood product. It is the perfect fingerboard material in that it eliminates wolf tones or hot spots, and it has an articulate sound like high quality ebony, but without the problems associated with ebony.
With unique aesthetics and ensuring accurate tuning, Hagstrom's exclusive 18:1 gear ratio machine heads are featured on all electric guitar models. Fixed bridge guitars get the Hagstrom Block Stop Tailpiece “ another Hagstrom original “ that drives the wood of the guitar body with uninhibited string energy generating maximum tone and sustain. On XL Series and F Series guitars, the Full Contact System tremolo bridge (FCS-1) offers more contiguous contact than any other tremolo bridge on the market. The Hagstom Viking Deluxe Tremar guitar features the Self-lubricating Graphite Composite Nut that further ensures increased sustain and vibration through improved transfer of energy to the neck.
Only the finest select tone woods and figured wood stocks were used on the Hagstrom Viking Deluxe Tremar guitar to enhance its sound and beauty. Carefully selected hard tropical mahogany tone woods are used on the body to produce a powerful and warm sound, and North American hard rock maple provides a bright articulate tone.
The Hagstrom Viking Deluxe guitar features a high-grade polyester finish, which is much harder, smoother and denser while also producing much better sonic performance than polyurethane finishes used by other guitar companies.
Since 1958, Hagstrom has been combining legendary design with premium materials, unique hardware, and innovative manufacturing techniques to create these magnificent guitars and are known among guitarists for their playability, beauty, and durability.

Beautiful fit and finish. If you have not held one...the body is less than 2" thick and 16 1/2" wide at the widest part. The overall height is 41". It has a very nice sound and the overall quality is top grade. Playing the guitar is easy. The three way switch is out of the way and the dial controls work well. It came from the factory perfectly set up. Proper alignment and string height. Minor tuning was all it took. The Viking Deluxe Tremar is a little on the heavy side at 8.8 lbs. The body edge band is ivory colored. The neck edge band is ivory colored also (not white). The head has a mother of pearl double edge band and insignia. The neck has inlaid mother of pearl fret markers. You'll love the chrome finished hardware on the shiny black guitar. It has a very prestiges look. If you are standing when playing...all is well. However to sit down with a wide body is impracticle. There is no good way to get comfortable. The only thing of consequence is that the volume controls could use a ground wire, there is occasional static noise when adjusting. I thought there would be a care manual or parts manual or service manual with contact information shipped with the guitar...no such luck. Even a warranty card would be nice. Maybe Guitar Center doesn't have a quality control department demanding these items. If I were buying a guitar to start out with as a beginner I would not purchase this unit because of it's size and weight. However everyone will be able to enjoy: the rich quality sound, the very playable neck, the ergonomic tremar, the quality design and the extra, extra long sustain. One other nice thing about the hollow body is that you can get a full rich sound while practicing without the amp. Your sleeping wife will appreciate this. I'm playing the Viking Deluxe through a Vox modeling amp. If you want to play smooth jazz, Pink Floyd or 60's Country... this is a beautiful combination.
