Comments about Gretsch Guitars Limited Edition Roots Series G9202 Honey Dipper Special Resonator Acoustic Guitar:
This is a beautiful looking resonator and sounds great. Guitar Center had several of these guitars from a rejected lot. The reduced price was impossible to resist. So, I took a chance and ordered one, sight-unseen. Yes, there were a few small blemishes. But nothing you would notice, unless someone pointed it out. CONS: 1) The guitar is heavy and wants to roll off your right leg. There is no strap button on the left side, and I was not going run a string through the head stock. So, I installed a strap button on the body near the 12th fret. This required removing the strings and aluminum center disk (cool looking). Then, drilling a hole through the metal body. I screwed the strap button into a small oak wood block on the inside (similar to how Gretsch did it on the right). Now, the guitar is perfectly balanced. 2) Although the finish is beautiful, it's easily scratched. You're going to have to get used to it.
