Overview

True in sound and craft, the G9521 Style 2 Triple-0 slothead guitar rings clear with a quick, articulate note response and a crisp bass that is never muddy. Perfect for the finger-style player, this model shines in balance while projecting a surprisingly strong tonal throw. It has all of the acoustic attributes a Piedmont-style player looks for in a performance instrument. It is great for a number of styles apart from finger-picking blues as well. It is comfortable to hold and to play, and delivers a warm and engaging, and very fast response.

Rich in voice and subtle in style, ROOTS COLLECTION™ Acoustic Guitars represent a level of design, detail and craftsmanship not seen since days long gone. Inspired by tradition, yet rooted in pure Gretsch sensibility, these instruments speak with voices that harken back to a bygone era of prairie melodies.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G9521 Style 2 Triple-0 Auditorium Acoustic Guitar:

I'm a middle-aged guy who dabbled in guitar in my teens and twenties, but never really committed to it. I recently decided to give it another try to find out how good I can be. I wanted a guitar that would inspire me to practice often without overspending, you know, in case I just plain suck.

I certainly found the right instrument in the Gretsch G9521. It was nicely set up right out of the box -- just had to tweak the tuning. The neck has a satin finish which feels great. The stock D'Addario light phosphor bronze strings (12-53) are a good match for the instrument, providing a nice balance between highs and lows and excellent playability. I find myself picking it up multiple times each day, sometimes for just five or ten minutes, sometimes for an hour or more.

Not that this is terribly important, but I love the old-timey look of this guitar, like you should just sling it over your shoulder and hop a boxcar (don't forget your harmonica). It is amazing what you can get in a moderately-priced guitar these days. I'm very pleased with my purchase. Might even spring for a Gretsch electric one of these days if I develop some decent chops.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G9521 Style 2 Triple-0 Auditorium Acoustic Guitar:

I have had this guitar for a week and cannot put it down. The short scale and 12 fret to body neck make it really comfortable to play for my short arms. The wide spacing at the bridge (2.37") makes for comfortable fingerstyle playing. It is also quite light and responsive. This guitar excels at delta blues and many other styles. It probably isn't the best for heavy strumming or bluegrass style flatpicking. Mine came pretty much perfectly set up and the burst looks WAY better in person than it does in pictures, and the finish is quite thin which also makes it more responsive. My expensive Martin's are getting left in the case since I seem to gravitate to this one so often.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G9521 Style 2 Triple-0 Auditorium Acoustic Guitar:

I got this guitar for Christmas from my wife and kids, and I love it. I did all kinds of research for an inexpensive parlor size guitar with a solid wood top. I already owned a Gretsch, so when they came out with this new Roots Collection I was very excited. It played well right out of the box, and it looks great. The body is very small, and the sound is very big. It is amazing how great this guitar sounds.
