Gretsch Guitars G9220 Bobtail Round-Neck Resonator Guitar, Spider Cone 2-Color Sunburst

Description
The G9220 features a beautifully-bound mahogany body with traditional-style F holes. The heart of this richly resounding guitar is the Gretsch Ampli-Sonic resonator cone, hand-spun in Eastern Europe from nearly 99-percent pure aluminum for fantastic volume and sonic projection. The onboard Fishman Nashville pickup features a split saddle piezo-ceramic pickup designed specifically for spider-style bridges and offers consistent, accurate sound reproduction for every performance.
Gretsch is proud to take players on a musical journey through nearly a century of great Gretsch history by introducing its Roots Collection of acoustic instruments. This exciting family of banjos, mandolins, resonator guitars, ukuleles and Rancher acoustic guitars feature classically authentic Gretsch designs that transport players to a bygone era well before the company made its acclaimed 1950s entry into the electric guitar world.

Plays well sounds best through a amp. Price point where you don't have to worry to much about it.

This product was shipped completely wrecked. The strings were so loose they drooped, loose wood pieces in the guitar. I'll have to let the local music shop take a look to evaluate if this can be tuned properly, definitely taking the junk strings off and replacing. I'm 75 miles from nearest Guitar Center, so the gas isn't worth the trip. I also bought the G9230, it has similar issues. Nothing that a couple hundred more dollars won't fix.

ALWAYS wanted to learn slide guitar, and this little Gretsch is my ticket to becoming Duane Allman (in a bunch of years, of course). VERY glad I bought this!

Easily outclasses the Dobro Houndog and Regals I've tried in the same price range. I think people pass on the Gretsch Roots Series resonators because they can't believe they can be that good at such a low price. Well, believe it. The Bobtail is a spider cone, which is associated more with bluegrass, but I play everything on it. With a nut extender you can even string up the roundneck to 16 gauge Dobro strings and play bluegrass properly. When I get a chance, I hope to also get a Honey Dipper or Alligator biscuit cone; the ones I've played sound about as close to a National as you are ever going to get for under $1000. Don't pass on these for the wrong reasons (yeah, they're made in China. I know...) The sound alone should keep you going for a long time. I bought mine through a dealer that inspected and set it up properly. Try it in-store first if you can find them. (It surprises me that more GC stores don't keep these in stock-maybe they can't!)

I just purchased this guitar and am having it shipped to a residential address. Will it arrive already set up (with strings and all pieces in place) or will additional assembly be required? Thanks!
This guitar should arrive set up and ready to play. It would just need to be tuned.
