Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5435LH Electromatic Pro Jet Left Handed Electric Guitar:

I ordered the Gretsch noit knowing what to expect. Being left handed I was sceptical about buying something without playing it. The guitar arrived, I pulled it out of the box turned on the tuner....amazing. Slightly out but the real test...intonation. IT WAS RIGHT ON, and I mean perfect!!! I have owned a number of guitars over the years, this one is as close to perfect as I've ever had. My compliments to Gretsch for exceeding my expectations. I would definately recommend lots of quality guitar for the money.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5435LH Electromatic Pro Jet Left Handed Electric Guitar:

I've had my Pro-Jet for a little over a month. I opened it in the store to examine it and found no flaws. After getting it home I assumed it sat in some storage area for a while as the strings were showing signs of age. Swapped strings out to 009s (I'm getting too old to bend 10s!), did a slight adjustment on the pickup height and set the intonation and voila! it played perfectly.
I'm not a fan of P90s and I don't care for overly bottom heavy HBs. These pickups are a beautiful cross between those 2. Although the upper registers tend to thin out a little, you can easily compensate for it with your amp without muddying up the bottom end. I was afraid that with a guitar of this price range that the pickups were going to be scratchy and lacking in tone. I'm glad to say I was very wrong! To me they sound like what I would expect from a typical production Gretsch pu. I can get early George Harrison all day with this!
Didn't find any glue overruns, the neck was straight enough for easy playing without any fret-out on string bends, no scratches or dents.
The only gripe I have (and what do you expect from a guitar in this price range?!) is with the electronics. The volume and tone pots are basically of the on/off variety with little variance as you go turn them. Replacing them and possibly adding a Bigsby are prolly going to be my only upgrades.
Bottom line: if you can't afford the $2600-$3000 for a "real" lefty Duo-Jet, you will not be disappointed with this Pro-Jet. I have a PRS Custom 24 that is a great guitar but - get this - I'm using that as a BACK-UP to the Gretsch! Playing in a classic rock/dance song club band and also started working in another group doing 70s horn songs a la Tower Of Power and it is kicking butt in both sitches. Couldn't be happier. I guess Chinese computer-generated guitars are finally reaching up-to-par levels. I WILL get a real Gretsch someday somehow some way...!

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5435LH Electromatic Pro Jet Left Handed Electric Guitar:

For under $500 dollars, this guitar is a really good buy. Out of the box the finish and appearance is more than satisfactory to me. However, the strap bottoms were a bit loose, the 3-way switch was loose as well and the nut could have been finished a little better, even though it's plastic. A little sanding 600-1500 grid really helped! I also taped off the finger board and gave the frets a good polishing, I'm talking steel wool and fret polish.
After re-adjusting the pickups and setting up the intonation the G5435LH is good to go! I like the Filtertron Blacktop pickups. They are low output pickups but sound really cool clean or overdriven by pedals or your amp. I use a Fender Blues jr. iii. No problems with the tuning machines or bridge at all. Besides, hardware can be changed out if needed. The aforementioned issues are minor in my opinion compared to the over all quality of the Pro Jet. I like it a lot!

Very happy with the quality of this guitar. The finish and feel in hand and sound are awesome. I had to work on intonation a bit, but otherwise this thing rocks.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5435LH Electromatic Pro Jet Left Handed Electric Guitar:

Buying a lefty is often a gamble, as you rarely get to see the actual guitar you are buying, but I always wanted a Pro Jet. Wow was I blown away! Guitars at this price point usually provide some trade offs, whether its in the finish or the electronics, there is always something, you just hope its something you are willing to accept. My only real complaint is the cheap pots. You know the type they do nothing until its almost completely turned, besides that It's a real winner. Really great tone form this little monster. The Blacktop Filtertron pick ups are not the usual sparkle you expect from Gretsch, its not a bad thing, its just different. Nice clean tones that respond well to a little dirt and harder picking. Adding some more dirt is actually where it starts to shine. This guitar is more in line with great classic rock tones, not really a high gain monster, but my amp isn't either. Tube mister 18 allows me to run this through a fairly wide variety of tones, and while it does some better than others, I could see this covering quite a lot of genres. I really enjoy the 24.6 inch scale with it's wide comfy neck & the light bass wood body, it makes for a guitar that will easily go the whole set. I am definitely happy I made the choice and you will be too!
