Mega'Tron pickups howl at the wind, and the ultra slim design means you can take this baby on the go! The ultraslim, solid mahogany body is lightweight and easy to shoulder, without sacrificing the unique, biting tonal properties for which mahogany is known. Great little slim guitar!!!

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5135 Electromatic CVT Electric Guitar:
This is a terrific guitar for the price. It's got a very slim body that feels like an SG, and light as a feather, even though it's solid mohagany. The neck plays comfortably and frets are wide enough for my over-sized fingers. The humbucker pickups are awesome: very active, clear and punchy. The Bigbsy vibrato works like a charm. I've had no problems with the strings going out of tune. This is a great little guitar. Very versatile and just a lot of fun to play. It's got a shape and vibe like no other guitar out there, and definitely attracts attention. Get one. You won't regret it!

Unbelievable

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5135 Electromatic CVT Electric Guitar:
I used to use an Epiphone Les Paul but it was so heavy. I had dropped it at least 6 times. This guitar is alot more comfortable and light as a feather but still has a great sound to it. This is without a doubt my best guitar purchase ever.

Can't be beat for the price

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5135 Electromatic CVT Electric Guitar:
This thing sounds amazing, the action is perfect and it plays so easily..I played an original Corvette back in the 70's and this one plays just as well plus it sounds even better...You won't regret getting one of these for your collection no matter what your price range...It looks like a much more expensive guitar.

Great sound
By Dustin Vincent
from Port Neches, TX
Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5135 Electromatic CVT Electric Guitar:
The Gretsch Electromatic is my 6th guitar, and is perhaps now my favorite. Overall light weight, and the neck feels natural in hand. The finished mahogany neck inhibits ultra fast shredding, and the Bigsby tremelo will bend the strings slightly out of tune if frequently used. The MegaTron pickups sound amazing when playing blues and classic rock songs with rich warm tones. Add a little distortion and it still sounds clear and warm. However, crank up the distortion and the sound gets a bit muddy, so metal heads beware. I replaced the strings not too long ago and the Bigsby really makes things frustrating with the use of short hooks to hold the string ends in place. The bottom line: Great guitar if you're looking for a clean/lightly distorted blues sound. String replacement is frustrating, and leaves something to be desired in the heavy distortion department.

A great deal on a versatile guitar
By Guitar Fan

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5135 Electromatic CVT Electric Guitar:
'Got this guitar as a birthday gift last June after comparing it to Epiphone SG, Fender Strat and Ibanez ARX 320 guitars in the same price range. Price at Flint, MI Guitar Center was nearly half the amount listed on GC website. Guitar has great tone, plays easily with a low action and the Bigsby came standard! It was either unavailable or extra cost on other guitars. Very pleased overall with the light weight, playability and unique looks of this great guitar!

Gretsch G5135 Corvette
By Glenn Baker
from Chillicothe, MO
Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5135 Electromatic CVT Electric Guitar:
Well made from the start, a pair of terrific MegaTron pickups sound very pro, short playing scale and a light weight body says it is the cat's meow to play. Bigsy will hold tune provided that you don't get to deep into our bends, finish is A#1, top notch all the way thru. Try one, you won't be sorry. I used to look at these Corvettes and think what a silly looking guitar, but I sure changed my mind when I strapped one one and listened to the MegaTrons take charge. I was sold then and still sold. It has that great Gretsch sound that cannot be duplicated.

Sub $1000 Perfection
By Shawn Stevens
from Freehold NJ
Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5135 Electromatic CVT Electric Guitar:
This guitar is amazing looking and plays just as well. The sound gives me the rockabilly I am looking for yet has the awesome classic rock sound we all yearn for. The finish it perfect and I mean perfect and the fret work is outstanding. No need to setup the guitar (I do my own) out of the box for most people but even with that, the setup was pretty much on target so I did 5 minutes worth of adjusting. The intonation is right on as well! Great job Gretsch!

Awesome sound, good price, plays well!
By Danny Walker

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5135 Electromatic CVT Electric Guitar:
Bought my CVT a few years back and it has become my go-to guitar for pretty much everything. It's super comfortable, light with an awesome gretschy sound. The default pickups are very good, giving earthy grunts when you want them, but also capable of an excellent jangly clean sound too. The hardware quality is good for a guitar at this price range. It's ageing well so far, with few signs of age. I do recommend getting a quality hard case for it (doesn't come with one) Gretsch aren't particularly well known for their solid bodies, but if this is a typical example, they really should be. If this is your first guitar, it'll be an excellent starter instrument. And if it's not your first, don't hesitate in adding this awesome guitar to you arsenal. Dan
