Blackhawk Mighty Mini Snare

Gretsch Drums - An Inspirational Timeline

Description
The 12x5.5" Gretsch Blackhawk snare drum is a high-performance side snare drum built to Gretsch's classic specifications. With a poplar shell and jet black wrap, this affordable yet great-sounding snare is the perfect accompaniment to any drum set.
Classic Gretsch Build and Components
Gretsch has been crafting drums since 1883, and their time-tested designs are featured throughout this Blackhawk snare. Its poplar shell has a 30° bearing edge for articulation and projection. Chrome hardware and hoops provide durability and style. And at just 12x5.5", this compact drum can be positioned as an auxiliary snare with the included 12.7 mm mount.
Versatile and Customizable Sound
While the Blackhawk snare delivers a crisp, responsive crack out of the box, its tonal possibilities are endless. Tune the drum high for a staccato piccolo-like effect or loosen the snares for a deep, cavernous thud. Muffle the drum with tape or a wallet to shorten the sustain, or leave it open for maximum resonance. With some small adjustments, this adaptable little drum can produce an array of useful and musically inspiring sounds.
Portable and Gig-Ready
Weighing just 15 pounds, the Blackhawk snare is easy to transport to gigs, rehearsals and recording sessions. An included gig bag provides protection from dings and dents. Mounting hardware attaches securely to any standard drum rim so you can swap out snares or reposition this drum with ease. For drummers and percussionists on the move, the Blackhawk snare delivers professional performance in a conveniently compact and portable package.

I love the sound of this snare, it pops and cuts through the mix without being too obnoxiously ringy. The stock head on it is crap though, white coated and transferred onto my sticks and black tom heads. Put a new Evans head on it and now it's perfect and sounds even better

I love this snare, now that I've taken the stock head off and put on an Evans head. The stock head is coated white and rubs off on sticks onto everything. With minimal tuning, the new head made this snare sing. After my first play, I can already tell it will be a go-to.
Best small size snare on the market.

Best sound. Very snappy with an aggressive pop. Super light . The only glass the mount is flimsy. But on a stand it's a beast!

this compact snare allows more freedom with respect to leg room, and provides more space for percussion toys all around the kit. big sound from such a small, quality instrument. you can't go wrong with jet black. all sets i have ever played are jet black. using what i call a 'snare stem' for the holder, which also allows more room for foot-triggered percussion instruments.
Yes, but I just bought one.
