The Godin xtSA Flame Electric Guitar's sound power begins with three distinct voices: electric guitar, acoustic guitar and synth controller. The xtSA delivers big time electric sounds via the Godin humbucker-single-humbucker pickup configuration. Thanks to a special 5-way switch setup, extra meaty humbucker tones co-exist with glassy split-coil sounds in the second and fourth positions.
Turn down the electric output and raise the volume on the RMC transducer saddles and the xtSA sounds like an authentic acoustic guitar. The acoustic voice of the xtSA is enhanced by an onboard preamp with a three-way graphic EQ. The two outputs are set up so that the electric and acoustic voices can be blended in the guitar using a single patch cord or at the amp/mixer using both outputs.
The icing on the xtSA cake comes in the form of its synth tracking. As with all Godin synth-ready instruments, a built-in 13-pin connector provides direct access to all Roland GR-Series synths as well as most other 13-pin devices.
All of this sound power would be a lot less interesting if the guitar didn't feel great. Thanks to the same 25" scale mahogany neck used on the Godin flagship LGX-SA guitar, this is a very comfortable guitar to play. The ebony fingerboard is shaped with Godin's ergocut technique and equipped with medium jumbo frets. The body is made from a silverleaf maple center with poplar wings and decorated with a figured maple veneer on top.
Includes a gig bag.

I absolutely love this guitar. I bought this guitar 2 years ago and have loved ever since. I wanted a guitar that sounded amazing as well as looked amazing. Apparently Godin must have made this guitar just for me because I am in love with it. Godin is a brand that you really don't hear much about. When I first saw it I hesitated because I was really looking for A big name like fender or Ibanez. This guitar is just as good or better than either one of those big name guitars. The number of pickups gives you a huge variety of sounds. The acoustic setting sounds just like an acoustic. The only problem that I have noticed is that the input for the patch cable sometimes comes loose, but that is an easy fix. I guarantee that if you buy this guitar, you will absolutely love it.

Godin xtsa has professional craftsmanship , features like a super comfortable satin neck and flat fretboard. Mine didn't work on the midi and acoustic modes. The fifth string midi pickup was dead so the string had no sound . On the electric mode the pickups were decent, made a little noise when changing the pickup selector switch. I really needed that type of guitar but had to return it and got my money back. I bought a Godin electric guitar case that was very well made. I returned it too. I will never know if it was a quality control issue by Godin or by GC. However it was I miss having a midi guitar like this.

I won't go into the tech specs here. Just check out the rest of this page. I will just say that I, like many GC customers, do a lot of casuals. After a lot of years doing them, I finally wised up and started bringing less gear to each gig. The "folks" didn't know the difference but my back sure did. I researched guitars that would cover a lot of sonic landscape and found the Godin xtSA. It does a bunch of things pretty well. I would not say it is the "perfect" rock, metal or jazz instrument, but it comes close enough to allow you to leave your other five axes at home. If you do casuals and you have to cover a lot of different styles, this is, in my opinion, as close as you're likely to get for under a grand. Obviously, sound is very subjective, so test drive one yourself. The fact that it is midi capable may not be a deal maker for a lot of you but it is a handy extra to have if you need to fill some holes in a very small group. Give it a shot. Ditch the JBL arena array for a Stagepass. Leave the Les Paul, the Strat, the PRS and the mic'ed nylon string at home. Your chiropractor will not like it but you and your back will. By the way, I had a warranty issue with the guitar that Godin sent to me and the folks at GC handled getting a replacement with no hassles and in time for me to not miss any Christmas gigs. I have had the guitar only 3 months now but so far, no problems. Thanks, Guys

The build on this guitar is on the level of those far more expensive. It doesn't have that Korean plastic feel of many guitars in its price range. The neck is agile enough for the most blazing solos, but comfortable enough to fully feel like an acoustic neck when in that mode.

I've been a Gibson, Taylor person and bought this since I have a Roland GR-20. I expected this to be a synth and maybe backup guitar, but it's become my primary electric. Great job Godin. The guitar has great action, tone and the weight isn't as bad as a Les Paul or the like, but it's a solid guitar. I also love the matte finished neck that doesn't get sticky like overly lacquered ones. I would buy another Godin in a heartbeat.

I have used this in a church setting on Sundays where the set list called for both acoustic and electric parts. As an acoustic guitar, it sounds very bright, so it took some time to dial in a good tone. Even then, our sound guy liked the brightness because it helped the acoustic tone stand out in the mix and individual notes had more clarity than a typical acoustic-electric.
I find the electric "side" of the guitar to be very warm sounding. Compared to some of my other guitars with active electronics, the Godin xTSA is a bit anemic, but in a small band setting it works just fine.
This is an incredibly comfortable guitar to play. If you are an electric player who gets called on to play acoustic occasionally, you will love having this guitar around!

Ordered the guitar from GC in Braintree MA. Waited over a week for it to get delivered. Picked it up and took it home and started playing...sound great the first 5 minutes but once I started out trying out the "acoustic" mode the volume control quit working and was stuck on high" Took it straight back to the store and their repair tech took a look at it and couldn't figure what the problem was. Said I'd have to exchange it and wait another week for a new one, which I did...hadn't left the store more than 15 minutes when I go an email saying the guitar was no longer available and I'd have to choose another model.r

Comments about Godin xtSA Flame Electric Guitar:
First - the good stuff - This is the third Godin product I have bought over the past 4 years and it is everything I expected in a performance-grade instrument. The attention to detail in the neck, and the neck mechanics and feel, are superb. The body finish is excellent with no artifacts anywhere. The electronics (built by RMC) have a quality feel to them. The tuners are first-class lockers, making emergency string changes a snap. This is a tone MONSTER! The variation in sounds that you can achieve between blending the mag pups with the Peizo's is astounding! And that's without considering the direct GR-55 driving capability.
and now - the other stuff:
1) You may have read reviews regarding a 'dead' transducer, which was regarded as a defect. I experienced the same thing and emailed Godin customer service, who promptly replied with a fix of cleaning the transducer with isopropyl alcohol and gently twisting the lead wire. I didn't get to the wire-twist part - a swab with alcohol on the 'dead' transducer brought it to life. So my point is that the transducers are FINICKY.
2) The rotary pots for tone and volume produce a squish static in the signal when adjusted as signal is passing through them. That's not a terribly uncommon problem and not really a big deal, but I didn't expect it in an otherwise excellent instrument.
3) When tuning or installing strings, the floating tailpiece will cause the rest of the strings to de-tune, so it takes a few tuning passes across the entire array in order to equalize the tension across the tailpiece and stabilize the tuning. Once you get the tuning stabilized, it is pretty doggone solid. Once again, not a terribly big deal UNLESS you use a lot of special tunings. Unless you don't want the floating vibrato tailpiece and can lock it down, you may find that stabilization of special tuning requires patience.

I'm a type of "old school guy", sticking up with a red Schecter Diamond series for 15 years.
I've recently changed my mind, falling in love with Godin ranges. TxSA is one of the best guitar I've ever touched. But I'm not satisfied with it's color. I picked the dark trans red one, obviously the color of board surface is great but the board edging looks poor as it's surrounded with plain light red (looks like orange!). This somehow devalues the outlook. For me, it would be better if the hem is in dark brown or even black.
