Great Mod Platform

Solid 3 piece body, decent pickups and a soft case. Added new Grover Tuners, a Baby Grand Bridge and it's a metal monster of Doom.

I bought the Phantom Grey model. It looks much whiter in the pictures. The paint is low quality.
There was no check list with tech signature, just the owner's manual. the setup was not bad, the action was a little high. I put a new set of 10's, XL's on it and with a minor adjustment to the truss rod and bridge I had a good setup in about 20 min. The neck is set and unfinished with a nice finger board which I soaked in lemon oil. It's very light. The electronics are OK for stage, no hum or buzz. It's a guitar you can leave out at home to practice with and not worry about what happens to it. All and all a good value for the price.

Comments about Gibson M2 Electric Guitar:

The M2 Gibson guitar would not stay in tune. Gibson instructed me to change the strings. One week after strings were changed the guitar would not stay in tune. Took Guitar to a Guitar Ctr Tech who tightened stress rod. Filed top Nut. Began adjusting intonation . E string on 3rd feet was 1/3 octive off from key of G. Tech did more adjustment. F note of E string was 1/2 Octive off. He instructed me to return Guitar or not play it. Tech could not resolve tuning problem. The guitar was returned to Peoria Guitar Center . The Guitar had great action . However , it would not stay in tune.

Comments about Gibson M2 Electric Guitar:

not happy with the bridge ,but knew this before I bought it I am changing it out with one the sits level and lower, when I contacted Gibson I was very surprised of the lack of information they gave me about replacing the bridge they would not recommend one to replace it with , obviously they know about this ,I even told them I would have paid more for the guitar just so I didn't have to have work done to it other then that its a good guitar

Comments about Gibson M2 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is good at best. The toggle switch for the pickup is fickle. It sounds great through a tube amp. It has the classic Gibson "g string" issue of staying in tune. Also, was hoping I could mess around with the pickups but it has that weird Gibson smart connect thing. A good guitar for the price but I wouldn't recommend it to seasoned players.

Cool guitar with it's own thing going on

      By Studio Guy

      About Me Professional Musician

Comments about Gibson M2 Electric Guitar:

What I love about this guitar is that it's fun to play, and has it's own unique voice and vibe. I do a lot of recording and am looking for other guitar tone 'colors' and this one is a new one for the palette.

Right out of the box, the guitar was set up well and ready to rock.

One unique feature that became apparent, immediately: It's a very resonant guitar for a solid-body. Not sure if it's the poplar wood, unfinished one-piece neck, the light nitro finish, or some combination, but his guitar is noticeably louder than my other electrics unplugged. The response and tone is more like a semi-hollow thinline tele. Definitely unexpected, and very cool.

Another happy surprise was the neck. I have always loved the feel of raw wood necks (this has a very light finish on it) and this one just feels fantastic. It's like a slightly thinner, faster les Paul neck without the thick gloss. Something I always thought would be great, but doesn't really exist as far as I know. Fretwork was good, no sharp edges or issues.

Looks-wise, it's a winner. Wasn't sure if I was going to like it, before buying it, but it looks great. The strawberry cream is a cool color. Not too pink. To me it's more like a classic vintage car type of color. The choices for hardware complement it well, and the pickguard is a standout.

It's nice and light, but not ridiculously so. Balanced well with no neck dive.

The poplar body and light nitro finish really give this thing a loud resonant tone when unplugged. Almost sounds like a semi-hollow body to me.

It stays in tune great, as good as any of my guitars that cost literally 10x as much. Thought I would have to swap the tunes, but I will keep these.

Pickups have their own voice, which I like. But I will probably experiment with some others.

Overall I would recommend this guitar. Cool USA Gibson for a great price. Great modding platform, if you are into that.

Comments about Gibson M2 Electric Guitar:

This guitar is amazing. The action was great , straight out the box. Intonation, even the strings are great quality. The only con is.....the paint is thin . I would have preferred a " A TRANSPARENT TINT FINISH "....OPPOSED TO THIS " THIN ALMOST WHITEWASHED, PAINTBRUSHED LOOKING FINISH ". OTHER THAN THAT.......THIS GUITAR ROCKS.

This is not what a Gibson guitar should be.It is more like a toy guitar. The body is very thin and make from a wood ,that is not a tone wood. The neck is good, and the hardware is good. Bottom line this guitar, for the
              price is not worth buying.
