Description
The Gibson ES-335 Satin semi-hollow electric guitar carries forward a legacy that’s been inspiring players since 1958. Revered as the blueprint for the semi-hollow design, the ES-335 blends warmth, resonance and sustain in one timeless package. Crafted from three-ply maple/poplar/maple laminate with a solid maple centerblock, this satin-finished version offers a smooth, played-in feel right out of the case. Calibrated T-Type humbuckers capture the articulate, versatile tones that have defined the ES-335 for over six decades, while the Rounded C mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard ensure vintage-inspired comfort and effortless playability. From smoky jazz clubs to arena rock stages, the ES-335 Satin delivers a voice that adapts effortlessly, capturing every nuance of your playing with unmistakable Gibson character.
3-Ply Maple/Poplar/Maple Body With Resonant Semi-Hollow Construction
The ES-335’s body features a three-ply maple/poplar/maple top and back, paired with a solid maple centerblock and spruce bracing. This construction provides the perfect balance between hollowbody warmth and solidbody sustain, making it one of the most versatile guitars ever created. The satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish not only highlights the natural beauty of the woodgrain but also allows the guitar to breathe and resonate more freely. Cream binding adds a subtle touch of vintage elegance, while the semi-hollow design reduces weight without sacrificing tonal depth—making it a comfortable instrument to play during long sessions or gigs.
Comfortable Rounded C Mahogany Neck and Rosewood Fingerboard
Designed for smooth playability, the ES-335 Satin is built with a mahogany neck carved into Gibson’s iconic Rounded C profile. It feels instantly familiar in hand, offering a blend of vintage comfort and modern accessibility. The 24.75" scale length and 1.695" Graph Tech nut ensure easy string bending and accurate intonation, while the rosewood fingerboard with acrylic dot inlays delivers a classic look. Hand-rolled edges enhance the playing experience, giving the guitar a broken-in feel right from the start. With 22 medium-jumbo frets, the neck invites expressive phrasing across the entire range, whether you’re comping chords or digging into soaring lead lines.
Gibson Calibrated T-Type Pickups and Handwired Electronics
At the heart of the ES-335 Satin are Gibson’s Calibrated T-Type humbuckers, designed to deliver a balanced tonal response with clarity and warmth. The rhythm pickup offers smooth, rounded tones ideal for jazz or blues, while the lead pickup delivers punchy midrange and singing sustain that excels in rock and beyond. The handwired control assembly ensures exceptional tonal range and responsiveness with a true craftsman’s touch. With two volume controls, two tone controls and a three-way toggle switch, you have the flexibility to shape your sound from subtle cleans to rich overdrive—all with authentic Gibson character.
Vintage-Inspired Gibson Hardware for Timeless Performance
Every detail of the ES-335 Satin is crafted to ensure reliable performance and timeless style. The lightweight aluminum ABR-1 bridge and stopbar tailpiece provide rock-solid tuning stability and efficient string transfer for enhanced sustain. Vintage Deluxe tuners with keystone buttons deliver smooth and accurate tuning adjustments while maintaining the guitar’s classic look. Black top-hat knobs with silver reflectors add a touch of retro flair, complementing the satin nitro finish. Nickel-plated hardware rounds out the appointments, offering both durability and a subtle vintage sheen. Each ES-335 Satin comes housed in a hardshell case, keeping your investment safe at home, on the road or in the studio.

Fret buzz was a problem.. especially with the low E strong in the higher frets... 12th to the 15th. The fretboard also felt rough and unfinished, it felt especially rough when bending or vibrato...and because it was rough it was noisy, like scraping wire on rough wood.

Very impressed - have had it for a couple of weeks now - very well built with so much attention to detail; very easy to play - and sounds great both with and without an amp - it feels like a 'professional level' guitar - now I just have to get my skills up to the same level!

Played this guitar in a couple of recording sessions, then took it out live at an outdoor gig. EVERYONE commented on how great it sounded, how good it looked, and how happy I seemed to be playing it. I've lusted after a 335 for 40 years, and finally traded in or sold several guitars to get it. Though I was sad to see the others go, I could not be happier with my new toy. I finally have found the guitar Holy Grail!

I know it's hard to specify but icoyld you describe How big is the neck? Its not slim taper from what I gather
From what a lot of players report and Gibson's own specs suggest, the neck on this model is closer to a Rounded "C" profile — meaning: Thickness at 1st fret: around 0.83"–0.85" (21.1–21.6mm).. Thickness at 12th fret: about 0.98"–1.00" (24.9–25.4mm).. Nut width: 1.695" (about 43mm). It feels fuller and rounder in the hand compared to a Slim Taper, but not as chunky as the big '50s style necks you find on some Les Pauls or early 335 reissues. It's a comfortable medium-C — not skinny, not baseball bat huge. It's got enough meat for your hand to grab but stays sleek enough for faster play if needed.submitted3 years ago
