Overview

The 2017 SG Faded T has been carefully crafted by Gibson USA to look and feel like an old friend the first time you pick it up. With its more authentic Faded Gloss finish and nickel-plated hardware, the SG Faded looks weathered by a few decades of playing, while the guitar itself, like every new Gibson guitar, feels as if it has been shaped directly by the player's own hands, for an absolutely perfect fit.

The SG Faded is an artful blend of history and modernity, where SG traditions begun more than five decades ago meet with 21st century innovations for sonic versatility and playability. A set of 490R and 490T humbuckers with Alnico magnets delivers historic SG tones, while a SlimTaper maple neck with a thicker rosewood fingerboard and 22 polished frets combine for an amazing feel in the hand, yielding easy bends and lightning-fast soloing—an impressive value for a high-quality, made-in-USA Gibson guitar. Delivered in a padded gig bag, accompanied by a strap and a polishing cloth.

I won't be ordering from Guitar Center again.........ever

Comments about Gibson 2017 SG Faded T Electric Guitar:

I ordered a new Gibson SG on line. I got the guitar in a Taylor Guitar carton. The guitar had been sent from one of their stores and was their last floor model apparently. It had several dings and dents and had obviously been enjoyed quite a bit. The three way selector switch cover was missing too. The quality control sheet enclosed in the gig bag was for a totally different serial number. We called the store to complain and was told their was nothing they could do about it. I called corporate for help. I sent it back to Guitar Center corporate for a refund. I'm waiting for the refund now. A very bad experience that won't happen to me again with Guitar Center. I gave one star because there wasn't a zero.

Comments about Gibson 2017 SG Faded T Electric Guitar:

I was never a big sg fan, until I bought this guitar!! This guitar plays great, sounds great, looks beautiful, and was pretty much set up straight out of the box. The sg can handle any style I throw at it. Sounds great clean and kicks butt distorted!! Yes it can handle metal. I play in an 80's post punk new wave band called Blitz covering the cure, the Ramones, blonde, and Echo and the bunny men and this guitar is perfect for my bands material!!

Comments about Gibson 2017 SG Faded T Electric Guitar:

If it's good enough for Angus, why not me? So i bought one. Had my local GC check it out and refine the set up. It's been flawless fun ever since. Mine stays in tune. I play through a Marshall Code 50 so it makes some beautiful noises all over the sound map. Great feel up and fown the entire neck. The pickups and electronics are solid and a good value for this price point. I haven't put it down much since i got it. Close inspection of all wood and construction revealed a flawless fit and finish. The only nit pick I have is that the bridge pickup for high e isn't quite centered while the other strings are dead center...no big deal really. If that's my only shade, I'm happy!

      Great Guitar

Comments about Gibson 2017 SG Faded T Electric Guitar:

I've been wanting an SG for over ten years. I was in Guitar Center buying strings. My friend said "didn't you always want one of these?" and pointed to this guitar. I fell in love after playing on an amp for about 15 minutes. I walked out with it that day (it was on sale and also it was my birthday). It came with 9 gage strings, which was a pleasant surprise, and was pretty much set up out of the box. I had to make a few adjustments but nothing major.
