The Gibson Custom Murphy Lab 1957 Les Paul Special Single Cut is an exacting replica of a classic, time-tested design. When it was originally introduced, the Special was seen as a two-pickup Junior, or a stepping stone to the Standard. In either case, it was no frills with plenty of thrills. This Special reissue captures all of that vintage swagger with a pair of Soapbar P90 pickups; an impeccable Ultra Light aged finish is icing on the cake. Available now at Guitar Center, the ’57 Les Paul Special might just become your six-string savior.

Gibson spec’d solid mahogany for the body, a warm and mellow tonewood. It provides a stable sonic base that allows the single-coil pickups to shine. Murphy’s team gives this Les Paul an Ultra Light aged finish—you’ll see some lacquer checking, but very little playing wear. It looks like a guitar that has sat dormant for decades, safely ensconced in its case.Period Correct Neck
Fans of ‘50s neck profiles will dig the Murphy Lab Les Paul Special. The mahogany neck sports a Chunky C shape for a fat—but not baseball bat—feel.
