The Gibson Custom Shop '59 Les Paul Standard is the holy grail of electric guitars, painstakingly crafted to recreate a legend. With its handcrafted mahogany body, figured maple top and custom PAF-style pickups, this Les Paul oozes vintage tone and feel. Designed for discerning musicians seeking the ultimate vintage-spec'd instrument, the '59 Les Paul Standard delivers the look, sound and playability of Gibson's most coveted solidbody.

Authentic 1959 Specs

The Gibson Custom Shop examined hundreds of vintage Les Pauls to precisely replicate the specs of a 1959 Standard. From its rounded neck profile to its vintage-correct wiring and CTS potentiometers, every detail of this Les Paul has been meticulously recreated. The nitrocellulose lacquer finish and hand-rubbed coloring process recreate the look of a well-loved vintage burst. With its vintage-style frets, relic'd hardware and custom wound PAF-style humbuckers, this Les Paul sounds and plays like a priceless original.

Handcrafted Mahogany and Figured Maple

The '59 Les Paul Standard's handcrafted mahogany body and figured maple top provide a resonant yet focused tone. The maple top adds articulation while the mahogany body delivers warmth and depth. Each component is hand-selected by Gibson's skilled craftsmen to recreate the wood combination that produced the legendary '59 tone. The one-piece mahogany neck retains the rounded profile and medium frets of a vintage Les Paul, offering a comfortable playing feel with chords and solos alike.

Custom Wound Humbuckers

The '59 Les Paul Standard is loaded with custom wound humbucking pickups designed to recreate the PAF tone of vintage Les Pauls. The neck pickup produces a warm, rounded tone suited for jazz and blues while the bridge pickup delivers a hotter, punchier sound ideal for rock and roll. Control your tone with individual volume and tone knobs for each pickup as well as a three-way toggle switch. Gibson's 50's wiring provides an authentic vintage tone with less treble loss as you roll back the volume.

Vintage-Correct Hardware and Finish

From its nickel-plated ABR-1 bridge to its vintage-style tuners, every piece of hardware on the '59 Les Paul Standard has been created to 1950's specs. The nitrocellulose lacquer finish and hand-rubbed coloring process recreate the patina of a vintage Les Paul, developing a shimmering, sunburst effect as the finish ages and checking occurs. A premium hardshell case is included to properly protect your investment.
