Overview

Guitar Center is proud indeed to be the exclusive source of a special guitar, which pays tribute to the very limited run of metallic sparkle Les Paul Deluxe produced by Gibson in 1975, and to the historic playability and feel of the iconic Les Pauls of the late 1950s.

Created in a extremely limited run of 75 each in Basalt Blue and Rocket Red finishes, these were a guitar well over a decade in development that is sure to become legendary. A pet project of Guitar Center Vice-President (and author of one of the definitive books on the history of Marshall amplifiers), Michael Doyle, the guitar was inspired by the memory of his personal Rocket Red '75 Deluxe — his first serious guitar, bought in the mid-'70s.

Crafted with care at the Gibson Custom Shop, these instruments are both stunning to look at and amazing to play. Special attention was paid to every detail, from the hand-carved deep dish of the maple top and historic neck carve, to the book-matched lightweight mahogany body and meticulously re-created mini-humbuckers that are the signature of the Les Paul Deluxe.

Additional special features included hand-inked and signed serial numbers, the inclusion of both tribute and historic backplates, a historically accurate hardshell case and certificate of authenticity.

Cons

    Best Uses

Comments about Gibson Custom 1975 Les Paul Deluxe Tribute Limited Edition Electric Guitar:

The looks of this guitar has to be seen in person, and from different angles, to truly appreciate the alternating robust colors it presents. It's really cool, especially the Basalt Blue one.

Beyond the looks, the shape and feel of the neck makes playing it fun and easy, and has seriously advanced my playing ability considerably--barre chords are so much easier now. But, what made my decision was the sound. I tried out the Gibson standard, standard HP, traditional, and a classic or two but this one just played and sounded the best. Lastly, a big thanks to Jarett at the GC in Fountain Valley for taking the time to show me the Gibson line, and an amp or two!
