Comments about Gibson Custom 1960 Les Paul Special Single Cutaway VOS Electric Guitar:
I have wanted a 50s Special for 35 years. Now, I have one! The moniker of "1960" is wrong to say the least, as the single cutaway special was not even available in 1960! A tad lighter than a Standard as there is no carved maple top. It's a slab of one piece of gorgeous mahogany. I have the TV white finish. There is a flaw in the finish around the joint where the neck meets the body (thinner and more transparent color). It's as though the glue got into the pores of the end grain of the body and the transparent white did not soak in, or it just did not get totally sprayed with the color... Other than that I cannot find a thing I don't like about this guitar. If you like the snot of P-90s going full blast into a tube amp of your choice on "11", then accept no substitutes. The neck has girth. It's between an early 50's baseball bat and slim taper neck of contemporary Gibsons. And for my money it's a real value considering stratospheric the cost of a genuine '55 through '58 LP Special. Setup was perfect right out of the box and the intonation is amazing considering it's a stop tail. I LOVE THIS GUITAR!
