There have been varying reports about the Gibson and Epiphone cases for the SG models putting undue stress on the neck and head stock. Not wanting to chance damaging my SG, I opted for the Gator case. It fit the SG perfectly and has a nice look with the brown Tolex covering. Locks work and that is all I needed. I would not recommend for ATA shipping, but is great for taking to gigs and storage.

I've got a few guitars now and usually had to order a decent hard shell case for each of them. My guitars are all kept in their cases when not in use, so I'm expecting something that's both functional and durable. I usually have to get my cases on-line because the selection at our local shops is pretty limited. With that in mine,there is always a certain amount of risk involved concerning purchasing something before I see it. And I can't say that I've always been happy with what arrived at the front door. My return experiences, however, have usually been pleasant enough, just the usual waste of time though. But when this one arrived I was literally floored. It was actually a lot more than I expected. The exterior screams vintage, a light brown, leather looking textured material. (apparently I can't spell vynyl, so..) And the interior is old school plush Gibson pink, complete with that velvet blanket attached and gold hardware. This is a dead ringer for the case that came with my LP Custon 30 years ago. The pink interior sort of clashes with my Heritage Cherry SG, but it's a good clash, colorful to say the least. The fit is perfect. There's no movement at all once the guitar is tucked in. Had I known the quality beforehand, I would have expected to pay twice the price, which incidentally is what the manufacturer is asking.

Ordered mine through my local Guitar Center and I am very pleased. I couldn't find it in stock at any store. As advertised, it took three business days to receive. If you own a Gibson SG, you need this case. Besides the beautiful old-school look, it is an amazing top tier case, better engineered, with more features than expected and at half the price. The fit is perfect and snug. The deck of the case has a wedge to angle the guitar body upwards a few degrees and line the neck up with a cradle that keeps all weight off the headstock. The inside of the lid has added supports at the body, neck and head to keep the guitar from flopping around. On the outside, rests on three sides allow you to lay the case down on its side or back, or stand it up. The latch bars have tabs that fit into holes in the upper clasps to keep the latches better secured than by sheer brute force alone. The color of the case is a darker brown than depicted in the advertisements but it is still beautiful.
