The undeniably crushing sound of Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell has sent countless guitar players on a quest to achieve his signature tone. Dave Friedman has captured lightning in a bottle in the form of the Friedman JJ-100, a collaboration between Friedman and Jerry Cantrell.
The JJ-100 is a 100-watt, two channel, EL34 powered beast that takes no prisoners. Saturated, complex, harmonic overtones create a tight response to assure no notes are lost over the full spectrum. These features are paired with AC30-like cleans and an ultra dynamic response to right hand attack, beautifully recreating Cantrell's iconic Seattle sound.
Jerry Cantrell and Dave Friedman spent years perfecting the JJ-100. This is Cantrell's first ever signature amp, so he went to the best. The hand-crafted in USA head utilizes tongue and groove Baltic Birch construction and is built to withstand the rigors of the road. If you are looking for a heavy-hitting powerhouse, plug into the Friedman JJ-100W.

Comments about Friedman Jerry Cantrell Signature 100W Hand Wired Tube Guitar Head:
Good articulation for lead work for a high gain amp, fun to shred with. Good for heavy rhythms. Has a compressed feel that some won't like and it doesn't give me a wow factor when you slam a power cord like I expected...not a lot of low end grunt. Sounds like some of the harsh frequencies are filtered out. I guess this is the price you pay for the articulation. Good for chimey cleans or high gain...not as much for classic sounds. Notes seem to get lost on clean side, not as cutting as I would like unless you use a heavy handed technique. Clean sounds better with single coils or at least a mix of single/hum. IMHO. Good clean headroom though. Amp seems better for band with single guitar player wanting a thick rhythm sound and good note separation on the leads. Not sure if amp will cut with 2 guitar players or not on dirty side but there is plenty of volume. Couldn't get a good clean by rolling back volume like I expected from reviews. Has to be dialed in with your guitar or it can sound too thin...so not all settings are usable in band setting. Manual helps you get a ballpark setting.
