Player Series Stratocaster Demo | Fender

Description
The limited-edition Player Stratocaster HSS delivers the inspiring sound of a classic Fender with a bell-like high-end, punch mids and a robust low end, combined with stellar articulation. This Player Strat is constructed with a gloss-finish solid alder body paired to maple neck with a pau ferro fingerboard and equipped with Fender Player Series Stratocaster pickups in an HSS configuration. Packed with enough versatility for any genre, the Player Stratocaster is ready to explore your musical vision, no matter what style you’re going for.
Built for Comfort
The 22-fret pau ferro fingerboard includes a 9.5" radius for comfortable playability and easy string bends. Plus, a "Modern C"-shaped neck profile makes the limited-edition Player Stratocaster HSS suited for practically any playing style, as well as beginners. Plus, an additional fret on the neck extends the instrument’s musical range.
HSS Configuration
The two expressive Fender Fat '50s Strat single-coil pickups are made with hand-beveled, staggered Alnico V magnets and Formvar magnet wire. With the added muscle of a humbucking pickup, you can go from bright and glassy single-coil tones to heavyweight crunch and growl with ease. Along with 5-way switching, this design delivers an enhanced bass response without a harsh midrange, giving you a more robust range of sounds to select from.
Additional Appointments
This Player Stratocaster features a two-point tremolo bridge for smooth whammy action and exciting dive bombs. Chrome die-cast tuners provide reliable stability, and an "F"-stamped neck plate adds a touch of Fender class. To top it all off, a dedicated tone control was added for the bridge pickup, providing more control over your sound in pickup positions one and two.

My First Real Fender is a great guitar! Highly recommend.
The transparent cranberry color is spectacular against the pau ferro fingerboard and black pickguard. I like that I can see the wood grain through it. The pickups are a little hotter than I expected, but the neck and middle have the expected tonality from a Fender Strat. The bridge is a hot humbucker. It really roars. Pots are all clean and silent. 5-way switch is quiet and stays where it's set. The 2 point bridge is super easy to adjust and I floated it slightly above the body without a lot of effort. Just had to tighten up the claw. Didn't need to adjust intonation. No high frets. No fret sprout where I live, but I'm in swampland so that might not prove anything. The strings were so new I had to spend about 20 minutes stretching and tightening them to get them in tune. Tuners are good. One thing to watch out for. It shipped with 9s and even with those thin strings they catch in the nut slots sometimes, when I make a bend or use the trem, and make that pinging noise. I'm going to have to widen the slots on the nut slightly, even if I keep 9s on it. I did tighten the truss rod to lower the relief and was able to get the action down to 1.75mm at the 12th fret with no noticeable fret buzz. I'll probably lower the bridge pickup some and raise the neck pickup to reach my ideal. The tone of this guitar is beautiful though, and once I did the bridge setup it has stayed in tune very well. I use the tremolo bar so this is a big deal. This is my first real Fender. I'm very happy with it.

Had to pass on this for now, unusually rough frets
Not sure if this is a result of lackluster QC due to Covid, or the amount of time it's taking guitars to arrive in port, but this guitar had some pretty bad fret work. I was interested in adding a Fender to my guitar harem (currently have 2 Squier Strats and a Mitchell MS450.) Tried this guitar in a couple GC locations, and even tried it out in a non-chain store. All 3 had some pretty shabby fret work, certainly not what you'd expect for a guitar in this price range! One of my Squire's is a low end Bullet, and honestly, the fret work on that is better than the 3 Fenders I tried out. A shame, really, cause the guitar is absolutely stunning. Maybe I just so happened to get the only 3 strats of this model that had shabby fret work, but I doubt it. I held off on buying this, or any other Fender I had tried, cause quite frankly, they all seemed rougher than in years past. If my Mitchell can have fret work that's smooth as silk, and costs about half of the model strats I looked at, then surely an icon like Fender could do better! C'mon guys, I'd love to add a guitar like this to my collection, but I simply couldn't justify it for now based on the fretwork. 🤨

Great Quality, but expect a set up

I own 2 other MIM strats, both are about 25 years old. I've heard people say that the quality of today's strats are declining. Disagree. I was very please with the quality of everything on this guitar. Knobs, switches, and tunners feel more sturdy and smooth than my other 2 older strats. I also prefer the more natural feel of this neck over the high gloss finish fender was previously using. Prices are pretty high compared to before covid, which is disappointing, but i got the black friday sale on this one. Very very happy with this for that price. Why do people this the quality has deteriorated over the years? I think the one thing that has changed over the 25 or 30 years that I've been playing strats is that today, they come poorly set up. String action, buzz, truss rod, and intonation on just about every strat hanging in stores today all need a professional set up. My older guitars were perfect off the shelf. So, expect to have to get a set up on the guitar. Most shops can set up a strat for a reasonable price, and it will make a world of a difference. Over the years I've learned how to do all that stuff myself. I bought this guitar for my son for Christmas. On Christmas morning we spent about 2 hours going through the set up and changing the strings. Afterwards, he was jamming with what surely will be a quality tool that he will have the rest of his life. There is a reason that strats are the standard in the industry! If you think they aren't playing quite right in the store, just keep in mind that after a set up you won't find a much better guitar.
Best first guitar ever!

Just purchased my first guitar during black Friday! Fender Player HSS. I don't have an amp yet, since louder is not necessarily better when I don't know what I'm doing! So, I'm using the Fender micro mustang plus, and the Yousician App to teach myself how to play. I chose this guitar because I thought it looked cool, which is about as far my guitar knowledge goes. Wish me luck on this journey!

Wow…is this guitar special! I have never been a big fan of Stratocasters because the volume knob just gets in my way! However, a year ago I was in the Little Rock Guitar Center and I saw the Player Series Limited Edition HSS in Candy Red Burst! I thought it was the most beautiful guitar I'd ever seen in my life! When I picked it up and plugged it in… It was love at first listen! It did everything I would ever need a guitar to do! The set up on the guitar was impeccable right off the rack, everything was solid through and through and did I mention the color? If a sports car was a guitar… This would be it! The humbucker gives the Limited Edition a little more ooomph! (I don't know how to say it, but it just sounds good). Anyway, I didn't buy it! Later in the day, I regretted my decision and went back to Guitar Center just in time to see a dad buy it for his 14 year old guitar prodigy son!! It was the last one in the store! So I ordered one through the store and I picked it up two days later! We pulled it out of the box in the store, made sure it was set up right (which it was) and I took it home! I never thought I would play it as as much as I do but… Darn, I play it a lot! The volume knob still gets in the way, but I'm getting used to it. In short the Players Special Edition HSS with the Pau Ferro Fingerboard is a special kind of awesome!!

Have wanted a Strat for years and finally able to buy . Sales person made it an awesome experience. It was very busy, but once it was my turn, he went over and above what was expected. The service was the greatest value. Would pay more to do business with Guitar Center.
