I received my MC-1 Parlor 3/4 Sized Guitar today from GC and was disappointed. I think the inspector. Surahnam, needs a new eye doctor. The guitar is a very attractive guitar with a nice grain to it. However, the last person to wipe it down, probably the inspector, before putting it in the box had something abrasive on his rag and scratched the heck out of the front and back of the guitar while wiping it down. They had to see it, but put it in the box anyways. Soon as I took the guitar out of the box I saw it right off. Can't miss the scratches in the finish.
I called GC customer service immediately and explained the issue. The guy was totally uninterested in what I had to say. I was looking at getting the full size Fender CN-60S and told him so. He switched to trying to sell me the CN-60S and blew off the issue with my MC-1. I just got disgusted and hung up. I did buy the CN-60S a few minutes later, but not from GC.
I like the Fender Classical Nylon String Guitars due to the 43mm Nut. I have small hands and have trouble reaching the 6th string cords with wider necks. Not to mention when my wife plays she's more comfortable with the thinner neck.
I did keep the MC-1. I polished the body with D'Andrea guitar polish. Some of the scratched went away. I think if I polish it a few more time It'll be OK. I kept it because I need the guitar to play in Church this Sunday. I'll then give it to my wife and keep the CN-60S for myself.
I tuned it up and played a little. Don't be fooled by the demo video. This guitar does not have the full body sound as demonstrated. It has a more tinned sound as any 3/4 sizes guitar would. Still, it does have a nice tone and is a very playable guitar for my Ol' Timey Gospel Fingerpicking Style.
The guitar does have a rod, however the neck's not very adjustable. The action near the body is high, however the action near the nut is low. If you try to lower the action near the body the strings hit near the nut. I recon it is what it is.

Comments about Fender MC-1 Parlor 3/4 Size Classical Guitar:

I use the guitar mainly to write songs. I found that as I got older I needed a smaller fret and nylon strings rather than the steel string Fender I'd had for years. This guitar is perfect for me.

    Poor Tuning Knobs

    By J.C.

    from San Bernardino, CA

Comments about Fender MC-1 Parlor 3/4 Size Classical Guitar:

Poor toy-like tuning knobs. "A" string too tight, barely able to tune. "D" string knob also too tight and would lock, unable to tune. Return to store for a different brand with better tuning mechanism.

Comments about Fender MC-1 Parlor 3/4 Size Classical Guitar:

I am seventy two years old and got this guitar because of its size. Great for laying back in my LaZboy and just messing around. The G string was flat so I replaced it and now all in tune. Naturally it does not have the deep tone of a full size classical, but for its size the tone is mellow enough and I really enjoy playing this classical.
