This is a great amp. I really didn't need another amp but I couldn't resist when I saw the sonic blue! There is not a whole lot I could say that hasn't already been said in the reviews for the standard black color Super Champ X2. I all ready had three great tube amps when I bought this one and what I really wanted that I didn't already have in my other amps was that super clean chime that only a fender tube amp has! I prefer using an ABY switch and two different amps to go from overdrive to clean. This amp I use for clean tones. that said this amp sounds very good overdriven as well. I am usually not a fan of modeling amps and was not really looking for that when I bought this amp, but the different voices 9as fender puts it) really sound better then any of the other modeling amps I have heard. The combination of tubes and digital modeling really make this amp awesome. I have messed around with fender fuse a little bit (the free software that lets you fine tune all the parameters for the effects and amp modeling, I will experiment with it some more when I get some time. If you are looking for a great sounding tube amp that is easy to carry around this is a great choice. The amp sounds great with pedals but with this amp you really don't need them! For the money you can't go wrong with a super champ X2. I am really happy that I added this one to my collection. It has that fender clean tone I was looking for and a whole lot more! For me the extra 20 dollars or so to get the limited edition sonic blue one was well worth it. There is a lot to this little amp and if you want to learn more check out the reviews on the black one, or better yet take a look on line at all the YouTube demos of this amp. They also have a separate head version of it, but the combo has a 1/4" jack that the 10" speaker is plugged into, you can simply unplug it and plug in any 8 ohm cab. I have a 2x12 cab with celestion v30's. That said The 10" speaker in the amp sounds pretty darn good to me, but in some of the other reviews people have complained about it. I honestly think it sounds great the bass is tight and it really sounds good. Plugging it into my 2x12 cab sounds great too, the V30's in it give it a different sound for sure, but the stock speaker in the amp is not bad, if I didn't like it I would change it to a Webber or maybe even an Eminence or Celestion, but it really sounds too good (to me)to swap out. I love this amp even more then I thought I would. it's a keeper for sure! I can't give this amp less then 5 stars it is worthy of the high rating!
This amp has excellent cleans on channel 1. The voicing options on channel 2 give you a lot versatility, excellent cleans and awesome distortion for various classic rock, 80's rock and metal. The features on the amp are great and allow you to get a range of sounds.
