I just purchased mine last month and it's just a flat out great guitar. With the V neck and the ash tray style bridge it feels and plays like the old Teles it was modeled after. With the four way switching there is a great balance between the standerd Tele twang while also adding a nice fat tone thats a little warmer than you would normaly expect out of a Tele. Bottom line it looks great, plays great, and sounds great. For the price it's hard to go wrong on this guitar!

I've wanted to get a '52 Reissue because I love the vintage stuff and especially that fat neck. It was just to much money though, then I saw the Baja Tele, and I fell in love, the neck is very similar and rits my hand perfectly, its got all the vintage stuff and the bridge pickup is nice and twangy, its perfect, I play mostly in the bridge position but with all the upgraded electronics you can mess around and get all sorts of nice tones in the neck position. I play mine through a Fender Blues Junior amp and sometimes with a Phase shifter and it sounds great, I go for that Waylon Jennings sound and I feel like I can pretty much get it with this guitar, now I just need to up my skills to match this great guitar and get that great sound.

I'm not sure what Fender's plan is, offering so much quality and rich and varied sounds in a Mexican build model Tele. The soft V (almost chunky C) neck profile and big size are really easy to play well over long periods, the intermediate fret size and 9.5 (middlin') curvature or radius of the fretboard, the no fuss polyurethane gloss neck finish all make this a favorite among dedicated players. Neck measures .98 inch deep at 12th fret, .91 at the first, tho they can vary. Then, the bridge and saddles work well without upgrade and the Custom Shop (spec'd) twisted tele neck pickup is very sought after and balances great with the Broadcaster bridge pup, also hard to come by. The body finish is in fact thick, dime thick polyester, and the reference to 'Custom Shop 69 pickups' is an error. Sure the desert sand, the only color you'll likely find, is bland. But if you can play halfway well and use a decent tube amplifier with good tubes and speakers, rest assured the people who crave good sound will be nodding in acceptance. This guitar is loaded with all the pieces parts that serious guitarists are trading for, other than sometimes too heavy bodies there's not a bad component on the whole thing. So don't buy it; I only have two Bajas and if you buy it I can't.

Fender did a great job with the Baja Tele. The pickups and sound are great. The S1 switching is a great addition. I have it on a Strat also and love it. The V neck is thicker, but is still very comfortable. It didn't take long to get used to it at all. The only drawback of this guitar to me, is the weight. It weighs a ton. Other than that, it's a great instrument and well worth the money.

This is my second new Tele, my first was a '52RI which I ADORE. I have heard great things about the Baja, primarily that it has a beefy neck, which I prefer. No doubt about it, the neck is great, very comfortable to play (I have large hands). The 4 way switch with S1 is interesting and useful. The pups are a Twisted Tele in the neck position and a Broadcaster for the bridge. Very different from the vintage pups in the '52, but not bad at all. With the switching you can get classic Tele sounds, as well as a Strat-like out of phase tone. Fit and finish are not bad, but make no mistake, it is not on par with the American made '52. That is understandable given the cost differential. The neck pocket fit is not quite as good, the pickguard profile is not as refined, and the controls do not feel as solid as the '52. None of this affects playability in the least, and the blonde finish looks very good. I was able to get the action down nice and low, and it sounds GREAT. I will be adding a Space Bridge and a Bigsby B-50 to this, and she will be good to go. Highly recommended. One thing, Baja's have a reputation for being heavy, mine is not. If you don't find one with the right weight, keep looking, it is out there.

Great guitar-my first new guitar in years. Was looking at American Standard Tele's and Baja played cirlcles around them. I got blonde model- It looks just like reissue model that sells for 2 grand. Pick one up , you won't want to put it down!!

This is the king of MIM (made in mexico) Fender Telecaster's. Oh yes, the quality and tone. It has a beefy neck. I gave it a 4 and a half but since I can't, I had to round it off to a 5!!! The neck is baseball big and though Fender says it's a soft V, its a really soft V so mine is more like a D. Oh well, more for me. If you're a player that is into pencil thin necks, you will have to adjust. But there's hope, they've had guys who love the sound, swap out the neck for another size Fender neck. I think that it is illegal in 60 states (some states count for more than one so I added them up). It is a 9.5 with med jumbo frets, so it's not vintage, which I like. I like modern ones (exception for bass, I'm cool with the vintage Fender bass set ups). The quality is excellent, and up to par with USA standard and specials. It's poly based, so it'll last, and hard to wear it out. I swung it while cheering after getting a crazy riff from a friend and it slipped out of my hand (and I caught it) but it hit something metal (but I wasn't playing metal) and left just a scratch. I know if it been a nitro, I would be wood puttying and re shellac'n it for sure. Frets are well done, no sharpies. The maple fretboard is glossed over, but the sound is still pretty good and the sustains are good (for Fender). No negatives like paint runs, unpolished patches, or uneven neck gaps wide enough to fly a mini drone through .. . so this is the bomb.The tone is just awesome, for a guitar of this price. I am kicking myself because there was a time when these were going for a bit cheaper (when they had this color and the desert one) but I was into tom foolery and turned up my nose at the MIM style. The S1 adds some dimension. I don't really like it, but with the right efx I can get some outer worldy sounds to bust some ear shenanigans. And it has standard Tele 3 way switching for neck or bridge, or both for some tonal love. But the tone is just out of this world. For the price. I don't have to swap pick ups, this is playable out of the box. Speaking of that, the set up was particularly great for out of factory. The action was lower than a rice rocket. It comes with vintage 3 saddles. While compensated or 6 saddles are better for intonation, the 3 still works for me. The weight is mid range, I'm used to LP or bass, so even the heaviest Fenders seem light. The turners are great, and holds it tune, maybe I have to adjust it once a week . . . I keep it in the bag. This guitar has a 60's cousin and I own both. This one is tonally different and the frets feel different (60's has rosewood). Both axes get equal time. There is only one tele that can beat the baja classic player series but you'll have to play tele's to find out that out for yourself. If this was stolen, I'd replace it ASAP. Get this before Boris Bubbanov cleans them out. Those TDPRI guys are right in saying this is a go to tele. It really is!

This is my first tele purchase, and I did a lot of research and testing before buying one. I was looking at getting the American Standard tele, but after realizing, that with this Baja model, you get the twisted tele and broadcaster pickups as well as the 4way switching (like on the American Deluxe), I could have the best of both worlds, at a lower cost. The guitar is beautiful (the two tone sunburst), and the neck with the jumbo frets, make it easy to play. The selection of pickup configurations is just an added bonus, with the sounds and sustain that you can get. The intonation from the factory was spot on, and just needed to be tuned up out of the box. I play mine thru a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe or Blues Jr. and it sings! It sounds great for country, rock or blues! A great guitar for the price!

I have owned this guitar since it came out and i love it! i was looking for a tele but i wanted somthing more versital than yout standard tele. I've been a fan of Fender since 1956. Have always loved the Tele. Have five Tele's and the Baja by no means has disappointed me. Same Fender "SOUND" and Quality. If there were a six Star rating, the Baja would be at the top of the list. Just can't get enough of Fender.

There's that moment of truth when you unbox a new guitar, tune it up and get the first feel - without an amp, just you and the instrument. Sometimes that's a disappointment, sometimes quite good ... and the, there are those rare times that your heart skips a couple beats as the sound and feel pull you in. You know in an instant, "This is one of those special guitars that's exciting and inspiring to play." This Baja did that for me. Big time. I've been playin overv50 Year's, and I've seen it all. This is a standout instrument that I can't put down.

Could not be more pleased with this guitar. The setup was good right out of the box. The tones from this guitar are amazing, everything from spanky clean to mean and nasty. No hum or noise from the pickups. The neck is very comfortable. The guitar stays in tune. The finish is nice and it has the classic look.

This tele stacks up against any American guitar. I have played countless guitars in my life but the Baja tele has been my favorite. The pickups are beautiful and the neck is perfect.

I bought mine where the "water" is "sweet" and was not disappointed. This is my first Tele and I was not disappointed at all. After buying a jimmie vaughan Strat I had no issues with MIM fenders and was about to pick up a MIM Tele until I saw a Baja tele for $719 and considering the options I had to pick it up. Mine came setup and ready to go so i cannot compliment it enough. It's beautiful and the tone coming from this goes on for miles and days so you couldn't fear buying such an amazing guitar. If you do buy from GC consider having it setup because the truss rod isn't setup in the normal fashion so you may have to remove the neck to set it up so consider paying extra or buying from a place that does the setup for free like where the "water" is "sweet" but either way buy it no matter where you get it. The value is amazing.
