Fender Classic Series '72 Telecaster Deluxe Electric Guitar Black

Got it on sale from GC; great warm sound with AC/DC punch.

I've owned this for a year and a half and have used it on stage regularly. This is definitely what you want to go for if you enjoy Fender guitars but want a very warm tone. I enjoy Gibson sound but the Fender feel, and this guitar gives me a healthy dose of each. I haven't paid for set up or have had to tweak anything on it since I bought it, and I'm an absolute stickler with intonation and action. I've received compliments after performing from tone-junkies and more experienced musicians than me. I'm definitely glad I bought this. -12" neck radius is super comfortable to play for long periods of time, lead or rhythm. -Deep, thick, warm tone gives it good tone for gritty rock, hardcore, or jazz! -Pickups don't feel too hot to me, not as pronounced bite as a single coil (of course); wouldn't be my choice for blues or country. -Low action, no buzz, clean intonation. -Tuners work great. I've played on stage for a few hours almost straight and it has stayed in tune. -Thick, rich Gibson sound with familiar Fender feel and comfort.

I recently purchased a tele deluxe 72 with the walnut finish and I absolutely love it! I love the way it looks - it is a very unique looking guitar because it is a combination of both a telecaster and a stratocaster. It can really stand out at a live performance due to its unique look. The guitar comes with two fender wide range humbuckers and they are incredible. They give the guitar a very special warmth that I have not found with other guitars. They provide very creamy clean tones. My favorite is the middle position, which I think sounds the best with no effects. The tone of this guitar on the clean setting is very pure. The humbuckers can handle distortion like pros. I like to kick on a lot of distortion when I play and these can handle any pedal I use. They have a really fat powerful sound when used with distortion. This is the first guitar I have owned with a maple neck. Normally I use rosewood but the switch over was seamless. Overall great guitar, I am extremely happy with my purchase!

Man it was a hard road to get to this guitar but it was absolutely worth it. I've gone thru quite a few phases over the last 20 years & have owned everything from PRS, to Taylor, to Fender, to Agile, to Gibson, to Ibanez & so many more. I've played the best to come out of America & I've played the worst to come out of Asia & everything between. I decided on the 72 Deluxe because I wanted something different. I've outgrown the desire to "fit in" & I was sick of sounding like everyone else. Everyone's familiar with the warmth of a Les Paul and the spank of a Tele or Strat, but I've owned them all & none of them offer very complex tones in my opinion. You mostly have to rely on the amp and EQing to make them sound "different". On their own, they're either this or they're that, thus the reason why so many guitarists own multiple guitars. The 72 Deluxe Tele is unique in every aspect. From the Wide Range pickups, to the Strat neck, to the volume/tone knobs, and to the most important thing of all...the sounds this thing can produce! It's perfect for a 1-guitar-kinda-guy like me who likes to rely on 1 trusty axe for all my playing needs and desires and doesn't want to look or sound like every other guitar player. Does it sound like a Tele or a Strat? No, it does not. Does it sound like a Les Paul? No. Does it sound like a mix between them all? Perhaps, but I wouldn't just label it an in-between guitar because it has its own unique character that has nothing to do with either a Tele, Strat, or LP. This is the guitar I've been searching for all these years but never knew it! The highs are crisp & much clearer than a traditional humbucker-equipped guitar minus the dreaded "ice-pick" factor. The lows are nice and round, without being overpowering & mud-inducing. The mids are very well-voiced. That's where this guitar really shines. The mid-range just hits that sweet crunchy-not-nasally spot for me every time I hear it. You just have to hear it for yourself I guess. Each pickup configuration has its own unique characteristics. The bridge has a little Tele spank & a lot of clarity on cleans & saturates very nicely when overdriven. I'm extremely happy playing everything from mildly distorted blues licks, to punk & hard rock, to chunky palm muted djent bliss. The middle position has a little Strat spank & it's great for clean strummed chords, blues & jazz licks. The neck pickup sounds equally good clean or overdriven. Perfect for leads, blues, jazz, & just an all around nice warm tone. The neck is one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, features on this guitar. As good of quality, if not better, than most American made necks out there. I mean, it's absolutely dead on. When set up properly, the action is low with zero buzz & I tune down to drop B & I'm only using 11s. That says something. It's comfortable and extremely fast. Honestly, it's probably the best neck I've ever played & that's including a couple of Paul Reed Smiths. The tuners are solid & rarely allow the strings to go out of tune if you know how to properly string an instrument. The input jack & toggle switch aren't the greatest quality but they're cheap & easy fixes. I've seen a lot of others comment on swapping out the pots in favor of 500k versus the stock 250k pots. Yeah it'd be interesting to hear the difference but personally, I have no problem with the way it sounds now so I probably won't ever bother unless I get really bored someday. Not to mention that's no easy fix for most do-it-yourselfers. What more could I ask for in a guitar? Not much really. It's unique in terms of looks & tone. It plays beautifully. It blends the warmth of humbuckers with the spank and midrange of a single coil & the result is a sound all its own. It's reliable. It's exactly like Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Not too thin, not too thick, it's just right.

I received this guitar a few days ago and although I love its look and what the pickups are capable of (at least in my case) be prepared to do some work. The intonation was off, no big deal if you know how to tweak it, but the biggest suck factor of all is that the nut came unfinished. There were slots for the strings but they were basically all filed or not filed for any string other than the high E. So I had to actually file the nut for the strings. Okay.... that was a pain, strike 2, then to top it all off the pickups weren't properly adjusted nor were the pole pieces. And let me tell you something, after about two hours of adjusting I still can't get a D chord to sound without a terrible tremolo sound. This guitar sounds awesome for soloing and even some drop D heavy stuff but I'm at the point where I might just have to take it in for a professional to get the pickups right. Basically this is a project guitar (for me, I don't know if all of these are made by incompetent workers) so be prepared to put some money into it. The look, feel, and sound as far as single note play is great. Just don't get your hopes up for this thing to jam out of the box.

I first heard of this guitar on youtube. The sounds and tones made me wonder, how can a Tele sound this mellow and yet have that PUNCH! Being a player of over 35 years, I took the chance and bought this one. I didn't go to the store to check it out. I wanted to really feel it and hear it for myself. A Strat, Tele, and LesPaul all in one? Yep! The action was perfect right out of the box. I adjusted the bridge pickup a little and that was it. I was playing Clapton for a while, then rang out some old Johnny Winter, and country western sounds. This ax is one of my favs and will be for a long time. I hope. lol Add overdrive and this this turns in your wildest dreams. The neck is adjustable to different tastest. The 2 tone and volume controls are speedey like a Les Paul and if your handy with Gibsons knobs you'll be right at home here. Fender out did themselves. Great Guitar!!!
