Overview

During rock music's infancy in 1950s, Fender introduced a revolutionary new guitar-the Stratocaster. With its sleekly contoured two-horned body, triple-pickup layout and innovative tremolo bridge, it redefined the possibilities for guitarists everywhere and set the stage for unimagined musical heights to come.

The Classic Series '50s Stratocaster Lacquer epitomized the instrument in the era of its origin, with an authentic nitrocellulose lacquer finish on its alder body. Other features include a "soft V"-shaped tinted maple neck, 7.25"-radius maple fingerboard with 21 vintage-style frets and black-dot inlays, three vintage-style single-coil pickups with staggered alnico pole pieces and five-way switching, single-ply white pickguard, aged control knobs and switch tip, vintage-style synchronized tremolo bridge and vintage-style tuners. Tweed case included.

Excellent Guitar for the price.

Comments about Fender Classic Series '50s Stratocaster Lacquer:

Worked with the management at the Va Beach location and bought this online through the store during the President's Day sale. Got a great deal on an excellent, retro Stratocaster. Comes with a case and doesn't have a silly-looking pre-worn look like the road-worn series does, it has a beautiful lacquer finish you can wear out yourself. I'm loving the sound these single-coil pickups give me through my Behringer Blue Devil,it sound spectacular and I'm getting the sound I want, so not having the Tex-Mex pickups really doesn't seem to matter at all. The thinner neck is great, but not too thin like the Mosrite I learned on, and string-bending with my average-sized hands has not been difficult at all. My initial impression after playing is that I definitely recommend this guitar for anyone who wants a decent 'retro' Strat with a case at a budget price. It plays great out-of-the-box. If that changes in time, I will submit a revised review.

Comments about Fender Classic Series '50s Stratocaster Lacquer:

For the price it is what I expected. The neck is consistent with an original '57 I owned until it was stolen in 1981. I considered purchasing a 60 year anniversary model, but I can't do the "C" neck, for me it's like grabbing a baseball bat. The pickups are noisy and it takes me back to olden times, but I assume it's cost related and not about accuracy to detail, who wants the noise these days. The finish is good and the action ok, I miss the 22nd fret, but then again it's the price. Overall I'm good with the purchase, I missed the Fender spank of single coils.

Comments about Fender Classic Series '50s Stratocaster Lacquer:

Let me get started by saying this is a fantastic guitar. The neck plays buttery smooth and the tone is wonderful. It is extremely versatile and can play anything from the smoothest of jazz to rockabilly. Personally, I don't really think looks on a guitar matter but, this guitar is beautiful to boot along with everything else it has. Basically with a hard shell case that usually costs at least $120 there is no better value you can get from fender.

Comments about Fender Classic Series '50s Stratocaster Lacquer:

Maybe this is lacquer paint, in the strictest sense, but it does not wear like the lacquer applied to actual vintage guitars. You might have to buy the American Vintage for that. Old lacquer paint on Fender guitars is soft; it will just dent if you get a ding. This finish is more like a very fragile version of a polyester finish. It reminds me of the early Mexican Fenders where the paint would chip off because they used poplar bodies (poplar doesn't like poly). In this case, it's the plasticizer used in the "lacquer" that makes them chip up so easily. You are better off buying the non-lacquer versions of these instruments; they are all good value.
