Not too shabby.

Comments about Fender California Series Sonoran SCE Cutaway Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

So first thing is first, it doesn't come with a Fender FT electronic. It comes with Fishman ISYS III electronics. It is a better bang for your buck, and after inspection of the on board tuner, it worked to perfection. Again, something the Fender FT didn't have. Not only does the tuner work, but it also allows you to use alternate tunings with little to no problems. The second thing is that even though the guitar looks amazing, it will never look like anything more than a toy, especially up near the tuners. Since it has the classic strat headstock, it has these little itty bitty tuners, which are a pain if you are not used to them. Straight out of the box, it could use a set up, but nothing too bad. I also like how Fender included the correct size Allen Key for the truss rod, and gave a little sheet with instructions on what the truss rod is supposed to do. This is something that every beginner should learn. It is a very nice addition to the purchase of the guitar because now I don't have to dig through my tools to find my Hex keys. Besides looking like a toy, the thing plays amazingly. The thin strat neck makes it easier for my large hands but small fingers to get around the board. The guitar is a lot smaller than i thought it would be, when they say "tight", boy do they mean tight. I got it in candy apple red, although I wanted a guitar that just looked like a piece of wood, so I must have had a lot of faith in this thing to go away from that. And yes it was a very worthwile decision. This is a great guitar for a first timer, which even though I am not, it makes me feel like I am. Honestly though, I would definitely recommend venturing up in the price range to find a much better guitar. For the price this guitar is pretty much unbeatable, but remember why this guitar was made before thinking of buying it. It was made for it's classic surfer sound, and that's the sound you are gonna get. So if that's not the sound you are looking for, DO NOT BUY THIS GUITAR. But, if you are looking for something cool to play around with and jam with the freinds and family, then this is a great guitar for you. The strat headstock may look stupid in the picture, but once you see it in person with your own eyes it'll probably be the coolest looking thing you've ever seen.

Comments about Fender California Series Sonoran SCE Cutaway Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've had the Sonoran CE in Lake Placid Blue for a while now, and Dude, I keep finding myself coming back to it again and again feeling impressed. I have Martins, Gibson, Hohner acoustics. While it goes without saying that it isn't a Martin..it also doesn't cost as much as a used car. Here's the bottom line up front: the tone on these guitars is absolutely dynamite!! Unplugged, they have a deep, full resonance. Plugged in, the Fishman electronics really shine. Playing through a Fender Acoustasonic SFXII amp, it sounds absolutely stellar! The classic C-shaped neck is familiar to my Stratocaster-tamed hands. Fit and finish are, like the electronics, far superior to other guitars in this (and even higher) price points. I can't get over just HOW GOOD THIS GUITAR SOUNDS!! I find myself reaching for it alot, and it is my daily player. I don't mind if it takes a little ding or if my daughter picks it up and strums on it... meanwhile... the Martin stays in its case gathering dust for the occasional recording or live gig. This is a players' guitar. Buy it. Play it. Use it regularly. A fine instrument priced well below what its actual value in terms of tone, electronics and quality-of-build would suggest. The one consistent con people bring up is that they don't like the Stratocaster style matched color headstock. To each their own, but personally I do. I didn't at first, when I saw it on line. In person, it looks great and it has grown on me. The thing is, I almost always like a natural wood look, or traditional sunburst finish on my guitars. But the Lake Placid Blue paint job is first rate. I mean, the guitar is actually, in your hands, a beautiful instrument! The pale green is pretty too. I didn't care for the red as much. I'm not sure if they make them, but this might be nice in the classic Olympic white too? Bottom line: I like this guitar alot. I actually bought it used as art of a deal and was going to turn it over..but it became my daily player and my daughter has already asked me to give it to her. No chance sweetie, this one's mine..but for the price, maybe I'll buy her one of her own?

Very Awesome

Comments about Fender California Series Sonoran SCE Cutaway Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I found one of these in Sea Foam Pearl at guitar center, When I first saw it I thought it was ugly, so I gave it a try. I immediately noticed how cool it sounds. It has a very melodic, almost creamy tone. I slowly fell in love with the color and I ended up taking it home. I'm a big fan of the Fender style, and the painted Strat style headstock really gives this thing a classic look. On the Sea Foam one, the pick guard, neck inlays, and all of the binding are pearl which looks amazing. The fingerboard and bridge on mine are a very dark rosewood. I really dig the classic look of this thing. Sounds good looks good, great guitar for the price.

Great guitar for the price

By Jason Glaeser

from Chicago, Il.

Comments about Fender California Series Sonoran SCE Cutaway Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Got this guitar about two weeks ago and it was definitely worth the investment. It definitely needed to have a good set up done on it but once it was set up it was way better than it was in the store (which wasn't bad mind you). I, unlike some others, actually liked the strat headstock on it and I chose the black finish. The black matching headstock with the gold Fender log on it is really sharp. I usually play electric so this having the ability to plug in was an added bonus. Tuner and EQ work great. It seems to be well made and the bindings look really nice, not cheap at all. The guitar sounds really nice and has a good deep tone, very warm. I, like anyone, played some of the $600, $1000 and above to see the difference and where yes there were some nicer guitars but for the money this one suited my needs. Like any new guitar, you'll definitely need to set this one up (the first one I had tried had a hump in the neck so bad they took it off the sales floor) but once you do I think anyone would be happy with it. If you buy online check the neck but GC is always VERY helpful with returns, etc. I have bought from them many many times with only a few returns and when I needed to they were awesome.

don't judge it by the looks

By David Waterson

from Wichita, KS

Comments about Fender California Series Sonoran SCE Cutaway Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I needed a new acoustic-electric for my studio, and wandered in to guitar center's acoustic room to check out some models. This thing was on a floor stand, and although it looks silly with the strat headstock and pearl binding, I picked it up and gave it a try. As I was trying out everything else in the room, I kept coming back to this one. The sound is very appealing, and the action and set-up were as good if not better than the $1,000+ gibsons and others in the room. I decided to look past the looks (it is a studio guitar, so who cares what it looks like?) and take it home. I've only had it a day but I've been very happy. The in-line tone responds well to processing and the natural sound comes through very well when mic'd. I would definitely recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a good recording instrument.

Comments about Fender California Series Sonoran SCE Cutaway Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar to have an acoustic to replace my 20 year old guitar. What drew me to this one was the strat neck. My electric guitar is a Stratocaster, and love the ease of playing it. This guitar feels the same to me so if you play a Strat you'll love the feel of this acoustic. I bought mine in black, very nice looking , out of the box the action was very good. Sounds great unplugged, nice tone. Plug in it really shines with the Fishman ISYS III electronics. I'm very happy with my purchase.

I play guitar for just a year straightly for fun. My 1st guitar is an electric Stratocaster. I buy this because it matches my electric guitar. I use this guitar for practicing at home. Sounds great! Crisp and bright sound. Tuner is good. It goes well with my Roland Cube - 01 acoustic amp. No complaint.

I just received this as a birthday gift and it sounds so rich, either with or without an amplifier. The tuner is dead on accurate and the neck has a very nice feel to it. For the money, you won't find too much better of a deal for a really good acoustic/electric that's well built. It feels solid, not cheap and like I said, the tone is smooth which makes this pretty versatile.I would recommend this to beginners as well that are just starting out.

Comments about Fender California Series Sonoran SCE Cutaway Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

When I decided to look at cutaway guitars, I really had my heart set on a Takamine. And then I spotted this beauty online in red. With the unique look it had me intrigued, but I thought, "it couldn't possibly sound good, it's all just looks." Wrong. After reading a bunch of reviews on different sites, I decided it was time to give it a try, and it was love at first play. The action was good, I loved the unique sound of it and it was such a comfortable guitar to play. I also tried a Mitchell at the same time and later a Fender Malibu at another music store, but the sound and size of the Fender Sonoran had me hooked. I even played it at two different stores to be sure it wasn't just a fluke. I'm now the proud owner of one in Candy Apple Red and I couldn't be more pleased with it. A friend who is a pro musician played it and the sound he got out of it was incredible, I was blown away. Yes, it doesn't sound like other guitars, but that's the beauty of it. If you want it to sound like everything else, buy a different one. I personally love the tone, but I know it isn't for everyone.

As for the electronics--mine all seem to work just fine, I have only played them through a practice amp at this point though. The tuner is spot on, I used it along with my clip on tuner to see and the readings I had from both were identical. Fender knocked it out of the park with this one. I will say that I didn't end up getting mine from Guitar Center, but only because I ran across an incredibly good deal that I couldn't pass up. Otherwise I would have ordered it from them. If you are curious about this guitar, I highly recommend trying it out. The ones I tried were in black, but I had my heart set on red, and black guitars are pretty, but show every single fingerprint! (just like owning a black car) I will note that the areas which show white in the photos on the red are more of a cream color. The red is a metallic.

Comments about Fender California Series Sonoran SCE Cutaway Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is a really great guitar for pros or intermediate, and it could also work for beginner, it's just a little expensive if you're just learning.

I'd recommend this guitar very much for performing. I'm a worship pastor at my church, and I play my guitar there. It works great with the speakers and amps, and is great for practices because it makes a great sound even when it's not hooked up.

Now, if you're looking at this guitar, the pictures of it look a little strange, so that's what I thought it was going to be like at first, so I decided it wasn't worth my time. Then, I tried it a guitar store for fun, and it was so great, I bought it on the spot. The plastic tuning pegs aren't as flimsy as they might look in the picture, too. You might want to get them replaced but be warned that if you're only buying this if you can change the pegs, it'll cost you a good $400 new. I haven't found any problems with the guitar itself at all, though the strings it come with give some people a bad first impression, as I see from other reviews.

Overall, this is my favorite acoustic or electric acoustic I've tried out of so many other ones. I'd really recommend this guitar.

The head stock is unusual for an acoustic and because of that It's unique.

I play at small venues and do folk-rock. This guitar makes my job easier.
