Overview

Fender is guided by one clear, simple directive: make life better for musicians. While the original Telecaster certainly did that (and then some), they weren’t content to rest on their laurels. Fender's team of mad scientists examined every component in near-microscopic detail. If they were able to improve it with a new design or modern materials, they did; if it didn’t need improvement, they left it alone. When the wood chips and solder fumes settled, what was left was the American Professional Telecaster—everything you need to play your best.

Developed by vintage pickup master Tim Shaw, the brand-new V-Mod single-coil pickups are voiced specifically for each position, mixing alnico magnet types to produce powerful, nuanced tones with original Fender sonic DNA. The newly redesigned Telecaster bridge sports three compensated brass barrel saddles for the perfect combination of vintage style with modern feel and performance. Retain high-end clarity when adjusting the volume controls, thanks to the new treble-bleed tone circuit that lets your tone shine through in all its glory. The modern “Deep C”- shaped neck profile feels just right in your hand while the narrow-tall frets make it easy to bend strings accurately and play perfectly intonated chords.

The best of yesterday and today, the American Professional Telecaster is the latest form of electric inspiration from Fender. Step up and stake your claim to a legend.

This is a good solid revision to the American standard, the new bridge is just what was needed to improve playability and recapture some of the telecaster sound of the first models. The pick up and new controls do just what is advertised and sound great and the neck and bridge PU together is excellent. The one I selected weighed just under 7 lbs ! unreal. The body even, with out the belly cut , feels comfortable as much as an original tele style can be, the body feels sonic and alive with vibrations. The bridge cover just does not fit well and is not really needed, a nice idea but poorly designed.

I have been playing guitar for 17 years (classic rock mostly). I had a MIM fender strat for 9 years and then this year I bought this tele (Butterscotch Blonde). In the store everything looked ok, the neck looked pretty straight, it sounded good (but not the specific MIM tele sound I´d heard before...a friend of mine have one and that inspired me to bought an american tele). For my ears, the sound of the MIM tele was kind of brighter and compressed than the american professional tele, that i think it sounds more like a strat, but with 3 pickup positions instead of 5. When I took the tele to a luthier to check everything and set it to start playing, he was impressed about how everything looked perfectly caftmanshipped (frets, sound, etc). He plays jazz. But for me, as a classic rock guitar player, there were some issues like that the first string didnt sound very clear and strong when using the neck pickup (very neccesary for solos). The luthier and I put higher and higher the neck pickup on the first string side to get the sound needed. Now that is "ok", but I would like to have a more strong sound there (like on my MIM strat), but I just cant put the pickup higher becasue it is almost touching the first string and that is not good for the pickup magnets. Another thing is you can notice that the body is a mix of several pieces of wood, because you can see it through the paint of the guitar. I know that happens in fender, but you can see too much of that, even the glue that get the wood parts together. Not nice for a butterscotch blonde. Also there was fret buzz because I like low action (strings close to the neck). The luthier couldnt do a lot to fix that even when he adjusted the truss rod. He said it was an issue of the guitar, not that I was asking for something out of normal. And just a couple of weeks ago, the volume pot started to do strange noise when putting the volume to zero (like a crackle). For me these are a lot of issues for a new american professional

Best guitar for the money

Comments about Fender American Professional Telecaster Maple Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

This is a very comfortable guitar with very nice tones. I did a nice comparison to the American Elite and American Standard: It's very close to the comfort and tone of the Elite, but it blows the Standard out of the water. Check this guitar out and hear/feel the difference. Fender put a lot of thought into the American Professional and it's amazing!

I was at GC to have my American Standard Tele serviced and they had this Mystic Seafoam tele on display. The sales guy encouraged me to try it and I was blown away. The tall frets and new neck are comfortable and I am so happy I didn't ponder whether or not to take it home.

Comments about Fender American Professional Telecaster Maple Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

I'm a 70 year old novice with limited acoustic experience. Can't speak with authority about all the technical details that many experienced reviewers describe. What I can say is that for me this was the right choice. I bought an EPI Tribute and used it for a few days but it weighed well over 9 pounds and I was struggling with it. Returned the EPI to Guitar Center (which by the way was effortless). This guitar weighs in at 7 pounds and believe me 2 pounds makes huge difference. For a rookie like me it is perfect. Easy to play. Clear sounds. I bought a little Yamaha THR amp with a pair of headphones so I don't drive my spouse crazy. I'm in heaven. In about 10 years when my wife puts me in a nursing home I'll probably be good enough to play lead in the wheelchair band. Till then thank you Fender and Guitar Center.

Comments about Fender American Professional Telecaster Maple Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

I have been playing guitar since I was 10 years old. I have played in various bands over the years and I am just about to turn 50. I also own a Les Paul Standard and American Strat which I love. However, I can say without a doubt that this is the best guitar I have ever played. The neck is incredibly comfortable and the narrow tall frets make it perfect for note definition. This guitar is extremely easy to play. It's lightweight and the pickups sound perfect. The Ashtray bridge is cut down slightly to allow you to get your palm in on the strings more for muted playing Etc. which is a great idea. I'm surprised it took this long for them to figure it out. I bought the Mystic Seafoam color which really pops. I've already gotten a lot of compliments on the color. If your looking for a quality Tele you will not go wrong with this guitar. The price level is not insane plus you get a nice hard-shell case with it. I bought this along with a Blues Jr NOS (Tweed/ Jensen version) which in my mind might be the perfect combination. The Blues Jr is a fantastic, best kept secret amp with tons of tone. Overall this is absolutely a 5 star guitar. Fender knocked it out of the park.

Comments about Fender American Professional Telecaster Maple Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

It's always been a dream of mine to own an American made Fender. I made that dream in to reality yesterday. I went in to my local Guitar Center and traded in my old 2012 standard Telecaster, and upgraded to the American Professional. To say that this guitar looks, sounds, and feels amazing is an understatement. The sound is clean and smooth; and that Telecaster bite and twang are clearly there. The V-Mod pickups really shine on this one. The deep C neck profile adorned with the narrow-tall frets play like a breeze, and is super comfortable, and the guitar itself also weighed a bit lighter than I expected, but that also adds to the comfort factor. I decided on buying the Butterscotch Blonde with ash body, and that finish is gorgeous! The molded case that comes along with the guitar, is just as cool and solid as the guitar itself. Nothing but quality on this guitar. It's definitely worth everything you're willing to spend on it.

I love the rich sound - more depth than I have with previous telecasters I have owned and played. Beautiful build - looks and feels great. A little bit of buzz from frets, but this is likely fixed with a little set up work.

I have been playing guitar for many years and this is now my 5th Fender guitar. I must say the build quality is quite impressive and is on par with my 60's Jazzmaster, which like this guitar was built by hand. Owning and playing many American Standard Strats and Tele's overs the years this guitar really is a cut above the rest. I was impressed as soon as I picked it up. The sound is spot on with what you would expect from a Tele and it plays like a dream. Overall, Fender did a great job with the American Professional Series taking their classic designs into the next era.

Comments about Fender American Professional Telecaster Maple Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

So I bought the Fender American Professional Stratocaster about a month ago and it soon became my favorite guitar. I've always wanted to get a American made Telecaster to add to my collection.. so I went in to trade up and upgrade to one with a Epiphone Custom Pro as a trade in. Since I already owned an American Professional series guitar, might as well go for an Elite right? Wrong. For some reason this just felt and sounded better then guitars I tested that were twice it's price. I ended up walking out with this guy.. I figured i couldn't go wrong with a matching AP Telecaster to go with my Strat. Truly a great guitar.. came with a great case as the AP series do. Everything is preference, but i feel like the American Professionals succeed in capturing that classic Tele tone.. even moreso then the Elites! If you're looking for a Tele, the search is over. Just try it and see.

This Tele is my main "go to" guitar now. My others are all jealous and pouting in their stands. They get their turns but for now the new girl on the block is getting all my attention.
