I went full undercover trying to find the perfect gift for my musician husband. After a stealth mission through endless options, I landed on the American Professional II Precision Bass. The alder body gives it a solid, resonant feel, the rosewood fingerboard adds a smooth, classy touch, and the V-Mod II pickups pack a punch with rich, balanced tones. The included case? Basically its luxury condo. Was I nervous dropping this much cash on a surprise? Absolutely. But the look on his face—and the growl of this bass—proved it's worth every penny.
Two Years Later Follow Up

I played a buddy's Fender Player P recently. Nice indeed. However, what I immediately noticed is how the Pro 2's pickup did a better job articulating the E string. The sustain is just plain impressive, whether open or fretted. Rich and deep, projecting the same volume as the other strings. Fender did a great job with volume levels across all strings. Matter of fact, I have yet, after 2 years, needed to adjust pup height. And after 2 years my new "Sweet P" seems to be getting sweeter/mellower but without losing any of the punchy power that I love about P basses. Still happy, perhaps moreso since I've been getting compliments frequently post-gigs. If I'm still kickin' my next update should be around the 5 year mark, should I remember to mark any calendar. I am NOT getting rid of this beautiful, bold bass...not making the same mistake twice in my lifetime.
Awesome bass.

I just love this bass from Fender. I was playing a jazz bass because of the thinner neck profile and was always reluctant to get a precision bass but I found this bass to a have a slimmer neck than your typical precision bass. Worked with a customer service rep online who was awesome and helped me with my purchase. I couldn't be happier. The setup was just about perfect too right out of the box, thank you Fender.

Beautiful look and sound. The through holes really give it that record ready sound with fantastic sustain and consistency.

The headline above ^ describes why I appreciate this bass. It has a the tone and drive that P basses were known for. This model was designed with a chunkier neck, like the P's of the first two or three decades of manufacture. The pickups sealed the deal: deep tone with enough oomph to hold its own in the mix. I won't go into further detail because it has the sort of quality features and components you'd expect from a bass of this price. If you're looking for a bass that faithfully reproduces the sound and feel of the early decades of Fender P's, then this model can fulfill the search.

What advantage is narrow frets over jumbo frets?
The narrow fret is taller. It produces a better articulation of the note.submitted4 years ago

How can I find out what the blemish is on this fender American professional 2 precision bass ? Also I have a trade-in how do I get an idea of what you will give me for it? A Fender deluxe active precision bass special in Okoume
I'm sorry we don't know what the reason is but it would cosmetic in nature and will not affect the function of the unit. You will need to bring your trade-in to a local GC store
